Do cats have like special "powers". Or psychic abilities?

Cats like all animals are more in tune with the earth and their surrounds than we as humans are.

A cat or most animials will pick up if a person is pregnant, that time of the month, sick, depressed, etc.

They will also know when storms are coming, earthquakes, etc.

Animals can sense if a person is good or bad also, its why some bark at bite people and not others. 99% of those that are attacked or something are not truely good people at heart and the animal senses it.

My 2 cats are my home alarm system....even a bug can't walk within 40 yrs of my home without them knowing it.

I don't really think that the cat has powers or psychic abilities. I think it comes down to smell.

A cat has a very powerful nose and can smell things that you or I would never be able to smell. When a woman is pregnant or on her period, her body chemistry changes. That change in body chemistry produces a change in smell. That's how a cat knows that we are sick or pregnant. We smell sick or pregnant.

Our feelings also change our body chemistry. Feelings cause our bodies to release chemicals, called pheromones, which signal our emotional state to others. Long ago, when our ancestors were coming down from the trees, pheromones were used to signal to others that we were angry, sad, frightened, ready to mate, etc. Even though we don't use pheromones to communicate anymore, our bodies still release them. We can't smell our pheromones, but cats can. That's how a cat can sense if we're happy, sad, upset, jealous, even if we like or dislike the cat in question. A cat can read us like a book.

Most animals, humans included, do have a sixth sense, though it's not ESP like in Hollywood. It's called the kinetic sense, and it enables us to perceive changes in air pressure. It's how we know when someone steps up behind us, or when someone walks into the room. Cats have this sense as well, but, just like with smell, it's much more sensitive. A cat can tell when it's about to storm because of the change in air pressure. A cat may even be able to smell the thunderstorm in the air. A cat's kinetic sense may even be sensitive enough to detect changes in electromagnetic radiation. When an earthquake hits, the shifting plates below the surface of the earth cause wave after wave of electromagnetic radiation way before the earthquake hits. Dogs have this sense as well. In fact, their kinetic sense may be even more developed than a cat's. Super-sensitive "seizure dogs" can sometimes detect the change in brain waves in someone who is about to have a seizure.

Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world's most innovative biologists, has plenty of research to prove animals do have psychic ability.

[Pet owners often comment on the surprising perceptiveness of their animals. For example, some cats seem to pick up when their owners intend to take them to the vet, and disappear, even when the person has tried to give the cat no clue. And some dogs seem to know when their owners are about to return, half an hour or more in advance, even when the person comes at an unusual time or in an unfamiliar vehicle (Sheldrake [1994]).]

I think they can definately sense things. My cat didn't want anything to do with me for a while when I found out that I was pregnant.

I don't know about the pregnancy thing, but many animals will act odd before an earthquake or storm.

I am not sure but I know cats can start acting nicer to you (at least in my case) if you are upset or sick.
