a cma is a certified medical assistant. a lpn is a licensed practical nurse. if you were just looking at those two professions, a lpn would be better in terms of money. cma's simply assist doctors with easy tasks such as taking vital signs or cleaning up the examination room and preparing it for the next patient. they simply do all the easy work for the doctor. A lpn is right under a rn and she can take care of patients on her own in any healthcare setting. she doesn't have the length of skill training that a rn has and that is why she can't perform all the tasks a rn can unless she becomes certified to do so. I am a rn myself and the pay is better for rn's of course.

A CMA is a certified Medical Assistant and can perform quite a few task that an LPN can't. However A RN can do even more than a CMA depending on the state you live in.

Certified med assistants usually get jobs at mainly doctors offices. Licensed pract, nurses can go just about anywhere, hospitals, doctors office, schools, nursing home, home health. Registered nurse is close to the same of LPN but RN's get paid more. I am an RN and I work with a lot of LPN's and they are all trying to go back to get there RN..Just go all the way in whatever you do:)

do you mean CNA? CNA is only an assistant nurse. an LPN is lower than an RN, but an RN is as high as you can go in nursing, and really hard work if thats what you want to get into. Its best to start as a CNA and work your way up, so that hospitals or other offices can see that you have a lot of experience.
