My Dad is in Iraq right now, and I think that if we don't show our love and support for our troops, then they will think we aren't behind them while they are fighting for us.We are there to make a difference. Isn't that worth fighting for? My Dad told me that the news media is messed up and never reports the good things that happen over there.Like how they supervised the building of a playground for the kids. Like how one of the soldiers in my Dad's division helped a little girl come to America.

I support our Troops one hundred and ten percent.they are doing a thankless job if you believe the press, and as sad as it is there are a lot of sheople the go along with the press.I think the sheople that side with the press is a lower number of Americans than the press wants you to think.people know that the terrorist that your father and the other Troops are fighting want to destroy America and change the American why of life.to me your father and the other Troops near and far are Hero's, and thank you for your sacrifice, it must be hard having your father be so far a way. I wish you and your father the best.
sincerely Doug Hackens

Did you dad really supervise a playground being build?! He is my new hero. I cant beleive that 3000 soilder and even more civilians being killed is worth a few playgrounds.I don't think troops should be in Iraq, they shouldn't be fighting for oil. Honestly i would rather have all the troops be back because they haven't helped anyone. There just making more enemies, killing people, and destroying Iraq. I'm not blaming the troops, they were just performing there orders, i blame the oil industry for sending them there. Maybe its true that the media doesn't show the good stuff that happens in Iraq, but they also don't show the bad stuff. I was reading an interview with 2 solders who had deserted the army. One solider had asked his troop leader what to do if he accidentally killed a civilian. The leader told him to put a gun next to the body to make it look like the civilian was fighting them. It makes you wonder who the reall terrorists are.The troops aren't fighting for us there fighting for oil.

I think it is great that you father is fighting the good fight over there. I was a Marine and my sister is in the Air Force and has to deploy a lot too. Look we need to get our troops out of there ASAP, that is how I am supporting my fellow Marines and Soldiers. No American is against our troops don't let the TV paint that picture for you. Its just like your dad said, the Media does not let you know the truth. We love your dad but we are in a fight that cant be won by our military and we should not have gone there in the first place. The best thing we can do is get out.

Bjay,

You haven't got a clue! Do you know why you should support the troops? Because a great majority are there even though they don't want to be. It's not a choice your given, unless you count the "go to war or go to jail...or worse, death" policy.

I spent over a year of my life there. That's a year that I will never get back! I was there supporting a president I didn't vote for and a war I didn't believe in. So, do you think I should have made that "go to war or go to jail" choice? I'm sorry, but this country is not worth me losing my life, whether it be by death or jail.

The troops need support. It is all they have. I remember receiving letters, cards and sometimes packages and that brightened up my whole week. It's a motivation to keep going when you feel like it's never going to end.

I think the majority of people in this country support the troops. They are doing what they are told to do as soldiers. I think it's great that they are able to help build playgrounds. However if we didn't blow it up in the first place don't you think it would have been better? The war is wrong. I feel sorry for the troops that have to be there risking their lives so that the Bush gang can gain even more wealth and power.

The good was rarely reported from vietnam. United States is unique because the state controls over the media are loosely enforced and bad news sells the best. Sadly, I think the leadership failed the troops again by sending them into a insurgent paradise.

Just so you know, I went with out my parents for 6 months in 2003 with my father deploying to Afghanistan and my mother to Iraq.

Not every soldier is a hero. I was in the Navy with some of the biggest scum on earth. So to answer the question - only those who deserve support get it from me. And I don't need some stupid magnet in the back of my car to prove it.
The media reports news. Who has time for "feel good stories" when our guys are being killed EVERY DAY?
This truly is a war not worth fighting at all.

Yes...we should always support our troops, even if we don't support the war. They are fighting and risking their lives no matter what the politics are. My boyfriend was in both Iraq and Afghanistan and he also said that the media doesn't report the whole truth. We should definitely support the troops no matter what!

Your Dad sounds like a great man. I agree with him that the media here is undermining our troops. I have friends that are in Iraq. They say there are many things there that have improved tremendously.

Tell your Dad that we are all pulling for him and come home safely.

I support the troops, not the president.

My brother is coming back next month. He has done 27 years in uniform, including Desert Storm and Grenada. He can't remember when things were this messed up.
