Reinstalling the OS?

Hey, If I Reinstall the OS will I lose all the programs and so on? Or just the shortcuts? As some people I know said it will cause me to lose them and some said It wont? I will be installing XP if thats any help

Depends on how you do it.

If you do delete something you want, it is possible to recover information, but it's not that easy.

Just make sure you save everything you want to keep on CD's or an external hard drive before installing.

You will lose the registries of the programs this way. It can cause them to not work anymore, but a few programs don't even use registries, and they'll keep working.
