In Christianity there is an idea about talents and gifts, each person is given certain talents and gifts. They express them and use them hopefully as best they can. These gifts differ from person to person and some talents are squandered and others are used wisely. In Christianity, ideally there should be a lot of room given this idea about talents and gifts. However, with the archetypes of Christ as the moral ideal, and Mary as a moral exemplary for women, some have said that being Christian is limiting individuality because of the narrow choices of spiritual exemplars. This can be counteracted by those who show the diversity of saints as a sign of true diversity in spiritual exemplars. But the majority of saints are either martyrs or virgins or both, hardly a lot of choice their on how to live and how to die. Christianity allows many cultural expressions and religious sects as well as tolerates many artistic forms of expression. However, Da Vinci Code and Last Temptation of Christ pushes the envelope for many Christians. But from Gregorian Chant to Full Gospel Choir, from Eastern Orthodox Icons to Plastic Jesuses on a dashboard, from Pope in Rome to Pat Robertson, there are certainly a lot of individuality in Christianity. How much room? "In my Father's mansion there are many rooms." This could be a clue to how much Christ thought there was for those Christians fortunate enough to be given the gift of heaven.

There is all the room in the world for individuality in Christianity! Did you know that each one of us 'individually' are responsible for
our own actions and reactions, no one else! The term 'Christianity' simply means Christ-like, and He expects us to 'individually' accept Him or Not.

Well, since you and your personality were thoughtfully created by God, I suppose the room for individuality is pretty much limitless. Of course, if you call a casual lifestyle of sinful practices individuality, then not much. He doesn't want"sin" in your life anymore than a parent wants their child to be hooked on heroin

Well, Christianity is not a united block anyway - there are so many different groups around the world or even in your country.

Some are very strict and expect the members to live according to very strong rules - others allow anyone to be a member as long as they are a registered member...

And you may consider yourself as a Christian without belonging to any church - so nobody would set any rules to you. It's you yourself who might accept some rules of the bible as valid or essential.

Tina, the church isn't contained in the corporate of telling all people to do something. The church is an section the position Christians flow to worship God and to hearken to the instructions of Jesus Christ so as that we may be able to upon our 'own' decision opt for even if to make Jesus the Lord of our existence and to be obedient to his be conscious. The church does 'no longer' concern orders about issues. faith and habit are strictly the alternative of each and every man or woman no longer the church.

There should be a lot of room, because our relationship with God is personal, but to really be a Christian there are guidelines set by Christ in His teachings.

Check out Gnostic Christianity ( based on the teachings of Christ). When I discovered it I had wished I had found it thirty years ago. Really, check it out. Lots of individuality, no one is alike ever!!! Key is to accept ourselves and lighten up on ourselves and enjoy this life!

To live by the faith of Christ, you are to forget yourself and follow Him. This basically means - don't follow the ways of the world to be accepted (i.e. it's okay to smoke dope, or have sex before marriage or with multiple people etc. etc., immoral things that society has tried to justify) This does not mean that you can't show your personality, God gave you that for you to keep, whether you're bubbly and playful, or solemn...whatever. That's your individuality.

Everyone is an individual and special in God's eyes. There are certain things that a person who loves and serves God will and will not do.

There's lot of room for individuality. There are all kinds of denominations, and diversity within each of those.
