My contention is that anyone off the street can be a movie actor.
I support this with the rampant nepotism and success of reality television The only real hurdle to becoming an actor is getting a first role.

My thoughts exactly! LORD KNOWS I don't care about the opinions of someone who has no real-world experience.

The thing that annoys me the most is that those like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt try and tell you to spend your money to save starving children in Africa. Ok, admirable cause (not faulting the starving children here), but honestly, they both have so much wealth it's disgusting and if they care that much, they really ought to live like a normal person and give their wealth away!

Great question. I don't think most people really give a damn what some actor thinks. But we do have a culture that is in love with celebrities -- not necessarily what they say or think but what they do, where they live and who they live with -- and with the news media hot to service this need by relating all possible celebrity-related tidbits, when an actor says something, they just have to report it. And reporting it is what gives it credibility.

To be fair to actors, they are entitled to their opinion. The sad fact of the matter is that if they actually verbalize this opinion it is as likely as not to get picked up and put in a "news" story. On the other hand, the real problem I have is with celebrities who take advantage of this. Its one thing to have a little conversation with friends at a party that gets itself in the news. Its another thing to call a press conference.

Because they have the wealth. People in this world idolize those who have money and power so They want their insight on situations. Some might not have been intelligent enough to speak on the subject but people still want to hear the words that come out of their mouth.

Many people "care" because they live their lives through the antics of such individuals; or they live their life vicariously. Not everyone can be an actor, it does take some skill and some training. The best part of being human is NOT acting - just being ourself.

The "media" tells us to care what celebreties are doing, saying, being, etc. The "media" is very powerful and sometimes uses it's power to the benefit of those who pays it well!!!! These people who are popular and in the news constantly pay their public relations teams very will to "keep" them in the news! And the public relations teams pays the media, etc. It's a vicious cycle and will continue till the money runs out!!!! Don't you think?

The reason may be scary!
People who make stars (aka audience) have dull lives, and they come to think of actors as demigods, capable of talking about politics, health, science, philosophy, etc. just because moronic reporters give them the chance to do so!.

I care what they say because I believe that everyone over privileged, under privileged, etc... Can teach us something by their experiences or downfalls. You learn just as much what not to do (ex: how not to become that way) if you take the time to listen, and not just hear.

They care because people in the spotlight tend to be the ones whose lives are easier to conform to and become popular. Society wants role models.

Reason: Actors have enternal life.. after they die.. they still live throughtout movies, shows, books, etc. Us normal, everyday people don't have that. When we die.. we're gone for good, forgotten.

Look at King Tut.. we still talk of him to this very day! That is true enternal life.. to never be forgotten.
