my almost 2 1/2 year old son is ready to potty train, but very stuborn. i need someone to answer this that has had success with the same situation. i've tried rewards, he loves stickers so i put a poster on the bathroom wall for stickers, but he got bored with that after 2 days. i don't want to bribe with candies because he already eats enough as it is. he has an older brother so he gets hand me downs so i don't want to be buying new underwear every week. i think i've tried everything, but maybe somebody might have a suggestion.

Boys are more difficult than girls to train.
Be persistent.
If it doesn't bother your older child or their father, put a potty in the bathroom and when the others go, make the baby go too. Maybe then he'll see that everybody goes, so he HAS to go too!

I did this with my munchkin & he caught on better this way than making him go alone.

First, don't compare him with his brother, all kids are different.
You say he is stuborn, do not let it come to a head to head argument, you will not win and nobody will be happy.
He has to be at the point where he both knows it is going to happen and knows that he can control it before you can get anywhere. No matter what you think, he may not be there yet.
Be patient, it is best done when he is ready, and he will tell you when that is. My daughter was 4 before she suddenly decided that she was going to go without diapers and she then did it all herself in a single day, it was like flipping a switch.

Hi there, keep putting your son on the potty even if he doesn't go. He will eventually start doing it. Just be patient . sometimes when you try too hard it slows the process down. Giving him bribes might work sometimes but not a good idea cause he will always want to resort to them. It will come natually when you keep showing him ,even take him to the bathroom with you when you go & sit him on his potty he will get the idea. Good luck

Well we went big prize. My nephew wants a motorized car (those little ones for kids to ride in) till hes cross eyed, We have a bargin and a poster on the wall with the item that when he goes in the potty for 7 days he gets it. We dont bug about accidents, and told him we will work with him, ask him every hr or so to remind him and so on, so far its working. He is so excited. we are up to 3 days in a row, he is telling everyone. we tried jelly beans, stickers, pennies, etc. this big item seems to be the only thing thats works. expensive i guess but cheaper than diapers and so on.

I say just keep trying. If he isn't interested at all he might not be completely ready. My daughter will be 3 in August and she still isn't potty trained, she will sit on the potty but won't actually go. Once he is ready he will do it. Good Luck!

You won't be bribing, but you will be making him 'go' more.

Give him some salty snacks, like pretzles, and let him drink juices or even soda. This will get his bladder full more often for the practice. Then put one square of toilet paper with a marker dot in the middle of it, and lay it on the water, see if he will enjoy the target practice.

They have a new training pants brand out now, that makes them feel cool if they start to potty, you might try that, or several others that are carried now, they have almost everything out now, that they didn't use to have.

Prasie him every time he goes. Buy a bag of chocolate chips (semi-sweet) and give him some everytime he goes. Keep at it. Don't give up. He will do it when he is ready.

Just let him run around naked then he will get bored of peeing just anywhere when others are watching.
