How do I break up with my boyfriend whom i promised never to break up with?

This sounds calous maybe, but some promises are meant to be broken, people grow and change, and sometimes that makes them grow awy from others who they were previously close to. You cant make an honest promise like that; I guess thats why there are so many divorces. But please dont stay with him if you are unhappy in the relationship, it is not healthy for either of you.

Nobody knows how the feelings develop over the years.

The best is to be open and straight-forward - and perhaps one or two days after give some explanation.

you don't owe him anything. the sooner you break up with him, the easier (even though it's gonna be hard) it's going to be for both of you. oh, and once you break up, all promises are off.

that is always hard especially when you toss that line out there- but you could try something along the lines of "we have grown apart" it is not the greatest but is allows everyone to save face.
