You can use lemon juice and stay out in the sun, but it will dry your hair out really badly. If you do it, just use fresh lemons and squeeze the juice out on your hair. Coat your hair thoroughly and stay out in the sun; your hair will lighten over a period of a week or so, if you do it every day. I used to do it when I layed out every day. You will need to use a strong conditioner when you shampoo, and maybe a treatment once a week to keep your hair from looking fried!

Hair lightens in stages, several stages. The darkest hair is considered (in Stylist speak) a level #1, the lightest a level #10 or #12. Depending on how many stages it will take to get to the shade you want, counts on the stage you start with.

Home haircolor products only lighten a little, so if you want something dramatic, see a pro.

Lemon juice works. But why would you want to make your hair lighter? I think blondes are gorgeous but if you have already dark hair, making it *darker* would probably be more flattering.

Sunlight, lemon juice...

Also the heat from blow dryers make the shafts of the hair strand expand, which reflects more light... making it seem lighter.

If you want a subtle lightening effect, lemon juice or peroxide will do the job. Just mix a little in your shampoo.

Only crappy things, like Sun-in, lemon juice and tons of sun exposure! But it all weakens your hair, just like dying it.

I dont recommend any of the above, and if you have black hair, go to a proffesional salon. DON'T LET YOUR FRIENDS NEAR YOUR HAIR!

only hi-liteing can give some lighter effects depending on the color of you hair now and whether it has color on it now or not. But, only have them weave in a few foils on top and sides to see how you like it (lightly).

This depends on your haircolor...For a blond or redhead you may want to try lemon juice and sunlight...this always works for me.
