Yes it's entirely possible.
You will probably lose weight quickly at first because you are doing so much.
Just don't get discourage when you start hitting plateaus, you have to be diligent, keep doing what you're doing...don't try to cut out too many calories (as in not eating or fasting) as this will make your body want to conserve.
Remember muscle weighs more than fat, so when you hit a plateau as far as pounds go, you will probably still be losing inches.
At 5'6", 150#'s is a very good goal, depending on your bone structure, you may not want to go below this weight.
Keep up the walking (running is harder on your knees & joints at your current weight) it's a great cardio-vascular exercise. Just remember to re-hydrate yourself with water.
Beware of diet aids & beware of artificial ingredients such as nutrasweet. Whenn in doubt do internet research...there's lots of controversey about nutrasweet, aspartame, saccharine & others. Remember just because something says it is "fat free" doesnt mean that it is sugar-free.
It's best to eat foods in their most natural state...raw vegies & fruits. Don't overdo it with the juices...an orange is better than orange juice any day. Water is always the best.
Reward yourself with little nicities... a new book to read, a new t-shirt to walk in, a new headband to keep your hair back when your walking...a bubble bath with candles.
And it's okay to allow yourself a treat so you don't go bizerk & binge because you've given into your cravings! something sweet or salty like a blueberry muffin for breakfast one day, a snack of almonds or as a friend of mine did, she allowed herself 1 hershey kiss after each meal. :-)
Good luck!

if you stick to it and dont fall off the wagon, it will be possible to lose about 100 pounds in that time. but only if you work hard and stay motivated! i lost about 90 pounds in 18 months but i hit 2 month long plateaus sometimes. i didnt run at all, i walked FAST for 3 miles a day 5x a week. you have to get your heart rate up for at least 45 min each day and drink a lot of water.

Heck yeah it's possible! Above everything, make sure you keep up the run/walk. I lost 30 lbs alone just doing cardio in about 8 months. Limit the amount of sweets and the quantity. Go to Sparkpeople.com which works as a nutritionist and tells you the amount of calories you should be taking in in order to reach your goal. Good luck with everything girlie, girl and congratulations on furthering your education.

I lost 35 pounds in 12 weeks doing Body For Life. If you stick with this program I promise the weight will come off. I found this web site that a 'Donna' set up to document her success. Check it out:

She went from 208 to 162 in only 24 weeks.

Possible if you keep up the cardio and I would recommend building some muscles thru resistance exercises. Make sure you keep to a strict diet and count your calories. easy on the carbs.
