You can find out for a specific model car at the fueleconomy.gov web site listed below. From that site I found that at typical mid-sized car emits between 14,000 and 16,000 lbs of CO2 per year assuming 15,000 miles annual driving. The new Toyota Camry Hybrid is significantly lower than the average midsized car at 9,200 lbs.

A large SUV puts out about 22,000 lbs of CO2

The Ford Escape Hybrid SUV puts out only 12,000 lbs of CO2

The Toyota Prius puts out just 6,800 lbs. That's my ride, sweet!

As you can see full-hybrids work very well. Do not be fooled by the fake hybrids being marketed by GM. They aren't really hybrids and they don't save much fuel.

Totally depends on the car.

Are you talking about a 3 ton SUV, or an 1800 pound sub-compact? Obviously one will put far more pollution into the air. If you're really curious about how much your car is going to contribute to global warming, take a look at the official government site, they can help you sort it all out:

Good luck, and buy green!!

That depends on which gas you are talking about 20yrs ago the environmentalist were crying about carbonmonoxide but now they seem to ignore that and cry about carbondioxide. Seems they don't know what they want to cry about. But you better be careful be cause soon they will say you contribute to greenhouse gases by exhaling you know what they say about cow farts and belches, too much Methane Man
