your vision does depend on which job you choose. i'm not too sure on the requirments but i have really bad vision. and i made it in the army because its correctable. my wife works for an eye doctor and she says military people are being refered for lasik surgery all the time so i don't think it matters. one thing to remember, any restrictions in the army are waiverable to a certain extent.

An odd statistic has shown up at the U.S. Naval Academy. Since the Military will pay for LASIK, more Middies have gone for the surgery so they could qualify for pilot training. This has caused a shortage of submarine officer candidates because, historically, those Middies who had poor vision were prime candidates for Surface Warfare or Sub service.
If you are seeking a job in the military that requires a certain level of vision and don't know whether you'll qualify, ask your recruiter to schedule you for a military qualification physical before you sign up. It is possible to do. If the physical shows you are qualified, get the recruiter to put the skill you are seeking in an enlistment guaranteed contract. However, this contract is only good through your first term of service, once you re-enlist past your intial committment, they can send you wherever...you'll read in the fine print of your contract that the needs of the military will dictate where you'll go.
If you're considering LASIK, wait until you get into the military to do it. that way, it's free, and if they screw up, you'll probably be eligible for a disability pension for the rest of your life. The military prefers people who don't need glasses or contacts because during a "furball" (the fog of combat/war) a soldier who loses or breaks his glasses is a liability.

you can get lasik and then not tell the recruiter. Or if you manage to get in the army, they'll pay for it. It's one of those catch 22 things. The army's pretty hard up, so they might wave your vision on the condition that you get the surgery later. I would say you haven't a shot in the other three.

You can have laser eye surgery and enter the armed forces I believe. In fact, the army offers some coverage on laser correction. Best thing for you to do is find a military recruiter and ask him yourself. Just be cautious because they are trying to fill quotas. I think laser eye surgery used to have restrictions in high risk areas such as flying but I think has the procedure became more advanced that to has been waived aside.

Those are the requirements with correction. You can have poor vision as long as it is correctable to +- 8.0. Hope this helps.

Actually, the army doesn't just cover some of the surgery, they cover all of it. They practically give you a gift basket to get it done. I think they'd prefer people not to wear glasses...they just get in the way.
