Try running the cup through the dishwasher a couple of times. That should take care of any funny tastes.

Drinking water from a glass container/bottle tastes fairly better because the water in a plastic container slowly absorbs some of the plastic and is left with a plastic-like taste

If the cup is new, you may want to just fill it with water and let it sit out for a while. Rinse and repeat a few times, and hopefully the loose plastic particles will work their way out. That problem is one of the reasons I like to opt for metal instead.

It has been proven that drinking repeatedly out of plastic containers will cause cancer. Make sure you check the type of plastic you are using and find out if it's safe to use over and over. Bacteria lives in containers like that all the time.

try to rub the inside of the cup with lemon rind
leave it for 5 minutes then wash it again

baking soda...Sprinkle the inside with rinse with water. If still persists wash with some vinegar and water.

10% bleach soultion usually does the trick rinse well and wash with dish detergent.
