Well, how come he liked you AND your friend at the same time instead of just you in the first place? That kinda sounds fishy to me. Maybe you should think about it for a while. Does your friend really play games, or do you think he used that lie as an easy way to get to you? And, I think you should also think about the reason that your mother is over protective. I mean, is he the type of guy that your mother SHOULD be worried about, or is she just crazy?

He sounds like a wanna-be player. He comes to you only when your friend isn't available. You wouldn't want a boyfriend that chooses another girl over you.

well there are plenty more men if your mom is over protective and he doesnt come to you until he figures he is done with the other girl, he just isnt worth it, so wait for the man to find you and just be yourself
