My first ticket ever, is it best to just take the ticket and go to driver improvement school and have the points taken off my record or should I go through the trouble of having my speedometer checked? Will I then be fined for improper equipment?

Your speedometer won't matter. You rarely beat tickets. The best thing to do is go to traffic school and have the points taken off, and drive carefully for awhile.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to always drive carefully.

The police don't get money from writting tickets. The city does and the city hoards the cash. So a money hungry ho is worse. In reality the best thing to do is pay the ticket, take the class and consider yourself a decent driver if you only have one ticket. Chances are you were really speeding and getting your car checked will likely cost more than the ticket, and save you a few court apperances which will also most likely take you out of work. Speeding is a strict liability crime which means you don't need to have intend to speed to e guilty, you just have to speed accidentally or by your own choice. If you get a DUI or something more serious I would fight it, but speeding will get you know where. I spent a year as a bailliff before I hit the streets on patrol.

Advice.. take the driver improvement school... As far as checking the sppedometer and then haveing a fine for improper equipment.... It is very possible. I do not trust the police ever. They are as corrupt as hell and they are ONLY after money money and more money.. That is why, if the police were looking for a wanted person.. and I knew where he/she was.. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER inform the police because the police would somehow get me involved and I would end up being the victim.. They are disgusting people
