Abortion should be legal, but discouraged as a form of birth control.

It should be like cigarettes. They're legal, but there's a warning on the label that explains the health risks.

Abortion should be legal and accessible. That way both the pro lifers and the pro choicers could work together and promote other options such as adoption.

you're absolutely right - everyone must have a freedom of choice

I agree. If a woman has thought carefully, and has come to the decision that such drastic action is necessary she should have the right to do so. (It's legal.) As for when a zygot/embryo/fetus/baby becomes its own organism, there is still much debate, so leave the issue in the hands of the person who is most effected, the pregnant woman.

By the way, even though this may come out in an insulting manner, it seems that some people care about the zygot/embryo/fetus more than the mother, who is unquestionably human. Also, if you are against abortion, just don't have one. Legalized abortion doesn't mean you have to get one. You not wanting one, doesn't mean that nobody should have access. Besides, abortion is not a decision one makes lightly. The women who undergo abortions have put a lot of thought into their decision.

In addition, abortions have taken place since before it was legalized. Legalized abortions just allow the woman to be safer when it happens. I think that we can all agree that the woman has the right to have her health.

Have you ever met anyone who had an abortion who did not regret it for the rest of their lives? Keep it legal to keep it safe, but don't condone it. It definitely should not be accessible by minors, children don't have the emotional capabilities to handle such a big choice on their own. Nobody should have to go through that choice alone. Even legal and safe abortion has many risks as well as long-term consequeces for the emotional stablity of the woman.

It is a very bad choice.

I fit somewhere in the middle, like you. I believe that it's wrong and I personally would not do it, but it's not my place to decide for someone else. I think that legalizing it would help in the aspect that it would be closely regulated and supervised. (the medical aspect in regards to cleanliness and after care, no more illegal and unsanitary "back alley abortions") Yes, like smokes, all the cons laid out for you and the choice is yours....

I also agree with the adoption remark. I can't have more children for health reasons, yet would be more than willing to adopt a child needing a loving home.

That's pretty much right. I mean if you abuse abortion as a form of birth control your right should be taken from it since you're irresponsible. But as for just in general, it should be legal. I mean overpopulation and other factors mean that there should be some sort of control if a woman becomes accidentally pregnant when she thought she wouldn't become pregnant.

But if it were illegal women would have them done privately and very dangerously. That's what happened before 1973 in the US and thousands of women were lost every year to bleeding from attempted abortions.

Abortion should be legal, because illegal or not its going to happen. Wouldn't you rather have it done in a safe place by doctors than in a back alley with a coat hanger? The second option is likely to cause TWO deaths, because the mother is at extreme risk as well.

It is. In most places. And there are always long explanations of the health risks. I don't think many people really use abortion 'as a form of birth control'.

We all have free will.... to choose for ourselves... but.. still I do not think abortion should be legal in any form... not even to save the life of the mother if there is a chance that the child would live.

if someone doesnt want a child they shouldnt be having sex. If I ruled the world and someone wanted an abortion they would be forced to have labor with no drugs, then not be allowed to keep the child. Ofcourse there are exceptions (rape, birth controll didnt work) and of course you may think im a sick freak

No, it should be ILLEGAL.
Obviously you shouldnt of had sex in the first place if you knew you couldnt handle the baby or too immature. Why would you kill a child. Doctor's tell you that it is just tissue . Well they are absolutly WRONG. That is a human being. It is absolutly sick and wrong. Thats just the same as like having a child and then when its like 2 years old taking it in and having it KILLED okay.

WRONG.

the bible makes it clear that abortion is against his law,so why would any spiritual person even conceive such a notion to make it legal.he sees even the embryo and views it as life and valuable.
