someone who does not believe in God and religion-- theist means you do, that you believe in God and with an "a" in front it negates it. You will see both theist and atheist A LOT in here.
Atheist-One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods
Theist-Belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in a personal God as creator and ruler of the world
