Other than the fact that the Cavalier has two doors, I think it is a good car and reasonably sized for what you are doing. I would keep it. The replacement car is certainly going to cost more money and with a new baby and potential deployment ahead I would conserve finances as best as possible. You could spend a lot of money and get a car that was just as bad. If you have to replace it get a small SUV like a Toyota Rav 4 or a Honda. Do not get a Chrysler or Dodge mini van because those are in the same category as your Cavalier for quality.

The car is safe for one child and up to two. I drive a mustang with 2 kids ages 3 and 5. It's a smaller car and i drove mine while my husband was deployed or his camaro which is also 2 door. its all a matter of preferance. a 4 door is more convenient bc of the car seat and so forth. its really up to you on what you prefer. I do have a question for you though, if you think cavaliers are poorly made why did you buy one? They are not that poorly made which is why they are a very popular model.

well my 2 of my friends have calaliers and on has a baby and never has enough room for what he needs to do and he has a 4 door so i know you wont have enough room and ive seen wrecks that have happened in those things and what the outcome was so my best advise would be to sell it for what it is worth and get a better car that you can afford and suits your needs for space its a 2004 so ill bet your probably making payments on it, you can get a car of an earlier year that is much more reliable and ive done all sorts of work on calaliers yes they are some of the poorest made cars on the earth next to dodge neons and i have one of those that i race and its fast but to much minor stuff breaks on it all the time and if i didnt have a different engine in it it would prolly blow up also if you ever have a solid brake line on your cavalier that comes out of the master cylinder dont bother trying to find a replacement because guess what they are the only car that ive seen that they dont sell replacements even at the dealership

You need an SUV with lots of space in the back. Its too hard to get a baby in and out of a two door car. My sister had a 2 door Mitzubishi Eclipse when her first son was born and within a week of his birth, she had gotten a 4 door car!

You husband should be smacked. Sure it's great for gas mileage, but you couldn't pay me to drive that car with a baby, and I am a chevy lover. You definitely need a newer, safer car. Not to mention, babies in the back seat are safer, have your hubby practice putting car seat and other multiple items in the back of your car and see how he likes it!!

If you think the cavalier isn't good enough for baby, trade it in for something that you think would keep your child safe.
