Could God, the being of all beings, be able to create it instantaneously or was God taking God's time? And what about the time of 7 days - should not God be independent of such universal matters like time (or space or energy or matter)?

Yes in God's infinite power He could have made everything in a split second, but God often does things for our benefit. What would be our benefit of God making the earth in 7 days? Well it can teach us some things, such as don't push yourself it is okay if it all doesn't get done in one day. Some people may would think that God is too perfect and wants everything done to perfection quickly but God wants to show us He is willing to slow down to commune with us. It can also teach us that somethings are worth taking your time on especially when doing something for someone you love. The number 7 is also God's number of perfection look through His word and see how often the number 7 appears significant. There are many reasons God may have chosen to take His time maybe one day you might see Him and ask Him face to face.

In those days the Theological Union had rules. A god did not just create a universe in, say, 3 days. Otherwise, the next time a universe was needed, another god would have to do it in 3 or less! The Union was created to stop this abuse of gods.

I believe the 6 day's of creation are not our literal 24 hour, day's but as far as God is concerned they may just as well have been. The time spans we are talking about are infinitesimal compared with eternity. So whether we are taliking about 6 day's or 6 billion years is quite simply spliting hairs.

The important point to bear in mind is that that God very deliberately chose the words of the book of Genesis to convey the a truth that would transend the knowledge of man and confound the wise.

god did spend 6 days to create world because he wanted to do so god created time and also will take it away at right right time. god created world in 6 days and rested 7 one because god decided that it is best way to do so.
And bible also says: But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
We should just believe God.

6 days with 1 day of rest was the time period he conveyed to Moses, the author of Genesis. Moses used the word 'yom', and he used it in a way that means a single 24-HOUR DAY. Not a thousand years, or 100 Billion years. God created all things in 6 'yom' (days). Plus, God could have done whatever he wanted, but he set a standard for a human week: one Holy day of rest and 6 others. God's Word, the Bible, is a guide for His children and helps us direct our lives. A lot of people have just lost the ability to follow its teachings.

God worked in the confines of the laws of the universe that He, Himself setup.

If God didn't want the universe to work the way it does, He wouldn't have made it that way. I mean, what's the point in declaring the physical laws of the universe if He does not want to operate the universe using those physical laws?

God exists in reality, and what He does, He does in a REAL and HISTORICAL setting, not divorced from reality.

And - by the way - each of those 6 days were literal "There was evening, and there was morning - the first day", etc.

Considering that we "scientifically" estimate the process taking multiple billions of years, the seven days of creation, whether the 24-hour day or the "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years" thing, is a pretty brief flash in time. What, are you wanting it more instant than that still?

In response to this question, the eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states the following:

”We are to notify in the very beginning that the six days in which the earth was created are totally different from our normal days. The simple evidence for this is that our normal days have been created after creating the heavens and earth.

Allah says in the Qur’an: “Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds. He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (Sustenance).”(Fussilat:9-10)

These six days may be referring to six spans of time that are known to Almighty Allah alone or six periods that has nothing to do with the solar system or to six stages that has elapsed and with whose length we are not acquainted.

As for why Allah has created the heavens and the earth in six days while He was able to create them in one second or even less, we are to know that Almighty Allah is Omnipotent and whenever He wants something He just says to “Be” and it is. Allah says in the Qur’an: “And Our word unto a thing, when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: Be! and it is.”(An-Nahl:40)

Here it may be suitable to say that the Divine Wisdom behind this may be to teach people not to be hasty or in a rush but to be patient and to consider every matter before doing it.”

1 day is as a thousand years to God, the Bible says. The fact that he took a week is amazing. He could have done it instantly. He created the day and the night for us humans, so we would have time and a way to organize our days and separate them.

you answered ur own question:he was taking his own time.
Actually, he was probably thinking about us, his people, and our future, when he made it in seven days. We work practically 6 days a week and then rest on the 7th day. and that is what he did.
if he made everything in a second, our week would only b a second. Don't question the things he does, they are always for the best.
