What percent over manufacturer cost does a dealership make in profit on a sale?

Depends on the dealership and how quickly they want to move the cars. They do not have a set profit from the auto maker.

I worked at an Infiniti dealership and I know that they up the cost $1500 just to leave that for a loss....but they are still making a profit from the dealership...plus they get tons of profit on interest...always pay about $3k under sticker...

percentages will vary based on location, type of vehicle, competition, time of year, previous sales, volume, etc., etc... it can range from 20% to 100%. and is at the dealers discretion in most instances. they will NOT tell you what their markup is unless you are from another dealer, work for them, or have a really good friend on the inside. i've seen corvettes and other exotic cars get the 100% markup over cost, usually based on rarity or limited edition of the model .

On a new vechicle in UK its around 2% depending on what your monthly target was.
