i totally agree so many people know how to make the baby but don't think much about raising the poor kids like my boyfriends ex whom he has a kid with she is the stupidest person to ever have kids she had more kids then she could handle and she want to blame everyone for her mistakes keep you legs closed ladies and you wont have to stress about child support or your husband lack of work all in favor of a child bearing license say i

I firmly believe in a license to breed. Wholeheartedly. Most people who have their first child are not near or close to near being responsible enough or prepared to have children. Though luckily about half of them turn out to be good parents. With a more involved process, I"m sure it would turn the divorce rate around, stop so many abandoned children from looking for homes, and generally stop the number of deaths of unwanted children. There is so much more than just stupid people breeding. Finacial stability, maturity, desire to bring someone into the world - these are just a few factors to consider. China from my understanding already has something to this in effect already. There are lessons to be learned however - they still have a large population of children with no homes. Simply putting a license on it will not make it better. It might make it worse. Look at drinking - if there was no age limit there wouldn't be as many people doing it underaged.

Most people who go through an adoption process are already subjected somewhat to this "licensing" thing you are talking about. They have to convince a government agency that they will be fit parents.
However, the population at large?? Oh my - just think of the bureaucratic headache that would create. Who would police this kind of policy, and how would they punish violators - take their baby?
It's a good idea - because there are a LOT of stupid and unfit parents out there - but I think the execution of such a thing is impractical given all the other issues out there.

I almost want to laugh when people suggest that people should have a license before they have a baby People give the examples of the need of a hunting or fishing license.People are required to write a test and do a road test to get a drivers license..A license is not a guarantee that you are qualified. If you need proof of this get in your car and time how long it takes before you see someone and you are asking yourself out loud"Where did that guy get his license,a box of crackerjacks?"Proof that a license doesn't guarantee competency

lol. yeah in a way u r right. sometimes it pains me to see some really retarded parents having kids just to burden the world with more of them . but EVERYONE has a right to the same american dream. thats why this country is so great and everyone wants to live here. So its not for us to say that we have the right to be happy and watch our children grow and the less intellegent of our fellow americans cant. Lol

Absolutely! You can't drive without a license because you endanger others but you can have unlimited children and put them at risk for their entire lives! An IQ test and a common sense test should be mandatory.

Absolutely agree with you!!! You have to have a license to drive a car, hunt, fish or own a gun. Yet anyone is allowed to birth and be "responsible" for another human life.

I agree you should have a license.
But not based on stupidity.
Some "not so smart people" can be the best parents and give the most love.
It's more you should be emotionaly stable and ready for kids.

maybe not a license, but a required class for all expecting parents. Exactly what are you going to charge them with if they don't have a license: illegal pentration and impregnation?
