A lot depends on your activity level. Calories in calories out. The more active you are the more calories you will burn.
There is also your personal metabolism to consider. Some People burn clock is set higher than others.
Talk with your doctor and get good health advise. Not a bunch of health nuts like us. Eat all the fresh, raw,vine-ripe fruits and veggies you can consume, limited meats, nothing fried, limited sugar and nothing white. Drink lots of clean filtered water (an don't depend on the bottled water industry to do that) and some form of exercise. And you will do just fine. Your own body will use what it needs and give you good signals on when you need to stop eating or when you need more.

I'm 5'6/120 pounds with an althletic build and I eat around 1200 calories a day. It's important not to starve yourself, but cutting down on sugar is a very good way to start loosing weight, and getting healthier.

In my Health class at college according to Dr. Greg Hicks:" the average calorie intake for an adult should be around 1200 in order to loose weight". Its not easy by any stretch of the imagination! Ive tried it and its awful! But if you can stick it out, you will loose weight fast.

Take your current weight and times it by 10.. that's your daily intake. In order to lose weight you will need to cut and burn some calories. To lose one lb a week you will need to cut your daily intake by 500calories. Or you can burn 500 calories.
so... if you weighed 150lbs.. daily intake is 1500calories to maintain your current weight . to lose a lb a week eat 1000 or burn 500 calories. your choice.

I think it's a little too much... your max weight for you as a 5'5" tall person should be 120 lb in my opinion... good luck.

1000 or less. Look up the 3 day diet. It's pretty good.
