I am seriously interested in wicca. I'm into nature and all religions I've looked into so far are bogus to me and my analytical mind. Wicca seems like a nice change of pace, where can I join?

Wicca is like satanism, but only in the opinion of the misinformed and ignorant.

There is nothing evil about wicca. In fact, there are far more evils found in the mainstream religions. And christianity tops them all. Only christianity has brought us such wonderful things as The Crusades and The Spanish Inquisition. But that is another matter.

There is a good saying among wiccans:

No war has ever been waged in the name of Wicca.

But wicca isn't that old in it's current state. It is an amalgamation of some very old religions, most of which are considered pagan. It is arguably the most accepting and the most peaceful religious path one can follow.

The best way to explore wicca is to do some research. Most wiccans choose to remain cloaked in anonimity. It's not because they are hiding evil plans or sacrificing the neighborhood animals. It's usually because there isn't much understanding among the general population about the ways of wicca. And, because of this ignorance and fear of knowing, people who do follow the path are too often ridiculed and aggressively confronted. And 9 times out of 10, it's a person who claims some form of christianity leading the assault.

Explore Wicca. Learn as much as you can on your own. Use your own judgement and intuition to decide which knowledge you deem appropriate and accurate. You will find that the more you get into the gaining of knowledge, the closer you will come to finding the people who can help you along your path.

And, yes, I did say "your path" to mean exactly that. You have to find your own way. Gaining knowledge will help you to know which people you truely should be with.

Most covens don't openly advertise. And rightly so. But if you seek knowledge of Wicca, you will inevitably end up in places where others seeking the same knowledge will gather. Bookstores are a pretty good place to start finding the knowledge and the like-minded.

Wicca is not satanism. Satanism isn't even satanism, at least not the public's idea of "satanism."

That said, wicca probably isn't what you want it to be. True wicca has many, many rules(112 in total). The majority of rituals are required to be performed skyclad(naked), and it is meant to be a very secret religion. No one is supposed to know about it except others in your coven. And yes, you really should have a coven. It's not an independent religion, many of the rituals are group oriented. Also, you MUST worship both deities, the God and the Goddess. You cannot choose to worship one or the other, or mix in other gods.

If you want to be a wiccan, prepare to perform many elaborate, somewhat kinky rituals. Read up on Gerald Gardener, the creator. He was pretty twisted, though some would also call him brilliant and eccentric. Do NOT believe anything by Silver Ravenwolf, Scot Cunningham, or any of the other dozens of fluffy authors you'll see in the Barnes and Noble "paranormal/religion" section.

If you want more detailed information, head over to http://www.studentcenter.org/ and post some questions on their religion forum. There are good people there, who know what they're talking about.

I'm pagan and wicca is not satanism. Unfortunately because of the media, ppl assume that wicca is dealt with the devil. Read up in books, some internet sites, talk to fellow wiccans (go to chat rooms in paganism). Always remember the motto "An ye harm none, do as ye will" and whatever you do whether it's good or bad will come back to you 3x whether better or worse.

Wicca is NOT satanism. It is as you said, a worship of gods and goddesses surrounding nature. Wicca is in close relation to Paganism, and they are both harmless. Paganism died out when Jesus came, although most practices of the wiccan and pagan religion are still around, just changed to look christian or catholic.
Check out some books on Wicca or Paganism to start out. I prefer the ways and lifestyle of these religions, but I have complete faith in Jesus Christ, which you may find is mixable, becasue they are all so entwined.
Good luck!

Paganism has nothing to do with satanism. Pagans do not even recognize the monotheistic religious framework from which the character of satan arises - that's solely the realm of the Abrahamic religions.

However, I don't know what paganism has to do with "analytical minds." On the contrary - where at least Christianity has a scholastic tradition (Thomas Aquinas, etc.), Most Pagan and Wiccan practitioners I've met depend heavily on having a mythological disposition and having an openness to the more primitive self - being "analytical" seems to have little to do with it.

Satanism is Christianity. All of Christianity. They worship an idol of embodied evil, as fact. As often as possible, they like to put a new mask on one of their Gods; the Devil, and play a blame game, so that all of the blame for their own wrong doing, goes in that direction, and not at themselves.

Their latest fashion is to point their fingers at Wicca.
Wiccans have nothing to do with any Satanic figure. Christians have been told to place the mask of their God of evil on the faces of Wiccans, and the herd usually does what it is told to do.

Wicca is an Earth based faith. Evil is in the eye of the beholder. There are no idols representing evil, at all. Perspectives are not black and white, but infinite shades of gray. Wiccans perceive evil, mostly from the hearts of those who practice it, and shake their heads in pity.

Agriculture and how mankind is in theory supposed to relate to the Earth, and all of its wonders, is the basis of all Earth based faiths. A rebellion against the destructive dogma and practices of patriarchal monotheists is what is driving the explosion in popularity of more Earth friendly practices. The selfish goat herder gods are passe`, and their narcissistic priests are being exposed as the thieving frauds of faith they have been for at least 1600 years.

Join? Not something I'd recommend lightly, It requires a very large paradigm shift.
But if you insist, head to your local fluffy bunny supply store, find someone in the know, and ask for the best they have in literature; no witch-crap. Then run searches for things you don't get, and learn, learn, learn.

There are also many other paths than Wicca. Do your home work. Choosing an alternate spirituality, is not for the lazy. If you have no drive to personally evolve, stay a patriarchal monotheist. There's plenty of room on the couch. You will never want for company of those who fear the mirror of the soul, and refuse to take responsibility for their own actions.

Wicca was a nice way for me to explore an earth centered spirituality that made sense. Though some people may think there are dogmatic rules to it, to me it was simple: a connection with Nature, with all the elements that make life what it is. It helped me to understand myself, accept myself and others, and understand what it means to have personal responsibility of all my actions in life itself. Is it like satanism????? NO! Satanism is a Christian philosophy. Earth is Mother. That is what is real. You want to consider joining? Go outside. Breathe the air. Marvel at the diversity and complexity all around you. Touch the elements and let them touch you. Get to know YOURSELF.

Good luck on your path of self-discovery.

Wicca is NOT satanism. That's what most people seem to think. Most wiccans are into the earth stuff. Yes,They do spells but mostly not bad spells that harm someone. Wiccans believe in karma. And if you hurt someone with a spell 10x of karma will come back at you.

if your not in to nature then the Wicca way is not for you
true wiccians use the properties and bounty of the earth in their practice if you are truly interested in Any faith you should practice it as a whole not just the parts you think are "cool"
the Wicca and the "pagan " religions are of some similarity but it is those who fallow the path of Christ who associate us with said Satan .
in my own faith we recognize many gods and spirits and have no form of Satan rather we believe that if we fail to appease our spirits and gods they will abandon us . though we to say Christians are heathens our system of beliefs a very strict ,and unforgiving.
many false hods cast a dark shadow on these faiths .
know what is true in your heart then chose the faith that most represents that truth

I'm not into Wicca, I'm a Buddhist. But, I've know folks who are in Wicca and they don't worship Satan. They are good, earthy people. If you think you would fit in there, go for it! Religion is like medicine, we all need a different kind. Also, god is too big to fit into one religion.
