I plan on moving there in a couple months and I was just wondering if it was a nice place to live. Is it clean? What about crime? Any other cities on Oahu that are nice, yet affordable?

Kapolei is a nice enough place to live. It is a nice clean residential area, not known for crime. The main problem with living there is traffic. Traffic is very heavy on the west side of the island and the highway resembles a parking lot, twice a day. If you work in Honolulu, you will spend an awful lot of time sitting in traffic. If your work does not require you to go to Honolulu during heavy traffic, then it is a fine place to live.

The whole west side of the island is a warm and dry, and mostly sunny.

You will likely soon become frustrated by the red dirt that permeates our homes. Then you'll get used to it.

Got a pool?

Like most places, Hawaii has a problem with drugs.

wiseass_chic808 sez it best. Kapolei is a beautiful upscale city smack dab between Ewa Beach and Ko'Olina. Kapolei has a golf course that rivals that of Ewa and Ko'Olina. The only other significant note that I can add is that Kapolei, like Ewa and Ko'Olina, is situated on the dryer side of O'ahu and therefore doesn't get rained upon as much as the other parts of the island. This part of O'ahu once was land that produced the highest volume of sugar cane. Today, the cane fields are an icon of our island's past.
Aloha and Komo Mai
P.S. The traffic problem is and will forever be a problem. If you decide to live here, you just have to learn to live with it. As you hear it often said, "just hang loose!"

i live in ewa beach which is near kapolei. its clean, affordable i don't know about that. everything in hawaii is hella expensive. from what i've seen in the paper rent is really high also. i don't think i've seen anything under 1300. thats for like a 2 bedroom. but kapolei is a real nice area. houses there are close to the movie theater, shopping, and the beach. ko'olina is like a 10 minute drive. its a beautiful beach. crime....haven't really heard much.

Nothing is affordable in Hawaii, everything must come in by ship or air and the costs are added on. The consumer gets ripped every time.
