Some people talk about the enormous damage that would occur to the US economy if suddenly, all at the same time, ALL illegal immigrants were deported - this is so laughable! No one said they would all be deported at precisely the same time - all 12 million or more of them on the same day! No, this would of course be impossible. But it would happen over a period of time and as employers stopped hiring illegals, American citizens would step in to fill those jobs as they were vacated by illegals, more and more as the lack of hiring illegals also caused the wages to return to what they were at pre-illegal hiring. With more and more American citizens doing the jobs at liveable wages, there will be fewer and fewer Americans on welfare, more tax dollars put into the system, more Americans with more money to spend IN AMERICA and so that even if the cost of a head of lettuce goes up a few cents, all Americans will be able to afford to buy that head of lettuce. The economy, over the long-term (not so long, though) would be better than ever!

To Thomas P the government does not need these illegal immigrants, it is the corporations that don't want to pay a descent living wage to the American people, I can't think of what the government would use them for, they are uneducated and most illiterate. only 2% of illegal immigrants work in the fields, the rest are taking jobs that would be higher paying if they had to pay an American, and hundred of thousands are ending up on welfare especially mothers and their children, because the mothers are uneducated, and a lot of them say they do not have a husband or a boy friend to support them, they get assistance from my tax dollars plus their husband or boyfriend comes home from work and gets the money also. With them doing that, and them using our emergency rooms, and over burdening our school system, and getting money back at the end of the year from the government , because if you make less than 20 thousand a year you don't pay taxes. with all of that they take a lot more than they contribute, and that is why they are here. to over run and break our government. They do not help our economy, they take more the statics prove that. But I do not believe they should deport people that have lived here for 5 years or more.

You are obviously in denial of how many illegal immigrants are in the US and that it would be extremely expensive to deport them all, not to mention the damage to the economy when they are all ripped from their jobs at once. I dont see that it could possibly have a positive outcome. Plus the rules for immigration from poor countries is extremely difficult, did you know that the immigrants must meet an income guideline to even qualify? Most people in Mexico especially would never in their lives be able to have that much money saved at one time. So they come and work. Think about it.

LMAO,ok First I'll tell you,I'm an American born citizen.I do not support illegal immigration.I support Amnesty for illegals in this country right now.I want secure Borders.I want the illegals to be screened before given amnesty. They are not going to send them all back, and if you think that YOU are the one who is dreaming. Most do pay taxes and I have posted proof of this, and it was IGNORED.They do not all come here to "drain" our social services, they come to WORK.If they are here to just live off Welfare they can get the hell out.I have nothing to gain from giving them amnesty.I have nothing to lose if they all get deported.I would feel sad that they had to leave their home of 20+ yrs because of ppl that have no compassion. But other than that I could care less.It is a myth that they damage our economy, that they are a drain, that they are sucking us dry. It's b/s.You and the likes of you just can't believe that they can hold their own.If you see one doing it,you think they all do.
And I Have to add that alot of it is also racism, some of the ppl on this board are just plain racist,it's that simple. And if you deny it,it's probably because you are one.

Well, seeing as the majority of reports into the US economy state the economy would not survive without the poorly paid immigrant population, i think the least you could do is grant them citizenship. What happens when Americans are expected to clean the streets and do all the grot work no one wnats, demanding higher pay and workers rights? The economy needs these workers

ive heard only 2 valid arguements. 1, they take all the jobs. rather than compete, form a company & employ them. thats the american way. 2, they soak up health care. we are the usa, one of the main reasons we seceeded was because we were being taxed to pay for socialism. http://www.archives.gov/national-archives-experience/charters/declaration_transcript.html the problem is that we demand socialism / welfare in the usa, not that the mexicans are getting it. we started out on a good track but have since insisted on socialism (tax funded programs), communism (federal programs; roads, protection, international trade, business relations & taxes in general), statism (a gov agency to handle every little discrepency), imperialism (wars & international trade restrictions) & nationalism (closed borders). we do better by private industry. cops rarely prevent crime, private security does. katrina, the gov faultered while the private sector prevailed. 'the pass' in dallas cost $62million to build & since has paid for itself. as well as its & other roads mainainance. 9/11 flight 93, if we had the ability to protect ourselves, theres no way the 4 could beat the 32. sorry, ranting.

good one Greasy Tony, you're proper the con fo human beings is "unlawful" immigrants make each of the persons look lazy, in case you do not believe that pass look on any interest the position there is an American and an immigrant and also you may see what I propose. My fiance owns a structure company (he does pay Taxes) and we pay human beings and Immigrants a similar reckoning on journey and how they paintings maximum persons of our immigrant workers earn extra because they comprehend a similar or slightly extra yet, paintings way extra efficient than an American. human beings theory of hardwork: paintings slowly 10 minutes; wreck 0.5-hour; paintings slowly 10 minutes etc execs they pay taxes, pay their expenditures on time, are paying for homes which at the instantaneous are not being foreclosed on(we are paying for a house after we move); they make our organizations extra money by operating extra sturdy; they construct Your homes (if deported who is going to construct your homes? sparkling your homes? reduce your grass? watch your little ones?

First,I support it cause my husband is illegal and I love him.I couldn't imagine not living with him,and I don't want to live in mexico if I don't have to.

Second,on a less personal note, think how much money illegal hispanics alone spend each day in the USA.They buy food, pay bills, rent, lights, etc. At stores they always pay in cash or with credit cards. They DO pay taxes(tax id #s),and do have loans at the bank for their homes and cars.

Now,lets talk work. Most of the illegal population works mundane jobs that noone else even thinks about doing.Go to the grocery store and think about where your produce comes from. How many americans are gonna get out and pick fruit in 100deg. weather?None if they can help it.

What have these ppl stole from you?You have a job and house? No one is stealing your life,so why steal theirs from them?

PANCHA, and we have shown proof to the contrary of what your proof shows? So who is right? An this economy will not collapse! Damn I am sick of hearing ignorant douche bags say that!

booboolubear, One of those illegals stole my mothers life when he hit her while he was drunk.... does that count? I hope you and your illegal husband get packed up and shipped out. We can do without the likes of people like you, and illegal aliens.

And you idiots act like they ALL pay taxes.... The only taxes most pay are sales tax. That is it.

I'm not "pro-illegal" but if you have stupid laws nobody is going to respect, it's better to face reality and take action on that.
