I don't know chinese, but I am currently learning Italian off of a website called about.com, you could check and see if they do chinese too.

i'm a taiwanese who can read and speak mandarin & taiwanese very well,,,,because i lived there 17 years before.... and i do love to help you ~~~
learning Chinese just like learning English...the more you practice, the more you'll understand. try to speak it & watching some chinese tv show do anything relate to Chinese...it'll helps u get involved into this culture a lot~
