Does anyone know what can cause small veins?

I went to get blood and the lady had a hard time finding my veins. She poked me a few times until she tryed in my wrist. I used to never have problems giving blood. Anyone know what can do that?

Excercise more, it increases your blood flow, vein capacity and thus increases your size of veins. You sort of want your veins to be able to allow for higher volumes of blood, it allows the heart to work less.

I don't think anything causes it. Veins aren't standard issue, everyone's are unquie to them.
