Basically water is a great drink for you and usually drinking more than 8 glasses is fine. However, if you are craving water a lot you should be checked for diabetes. Classic sign. Also, they have found that over saturation can indeed be dangerous. Recently there have been reports of athletes, in particular runners, who have drunk too much water and caused an imbalance of chemicals in the body and dropped dead.. Of course this is an extreme example, but drinking way too much water can be as problematic as not drinking enough. I would see my doctor if needing to drink more than 8 - 10 16 oz. glasses a day. When people say you need 8 glasses of water a day it is usually a 16 oz. glass that we drink more than an 8 oz. glass. 8 oz. is only a cup of water. Also, you need to consider ALL liquids that you consume. Be sure to consider if you are outside in the heat, exercising a lot, etc. as you will indeed need to drink more water than a sedentary person.

It's perfectly fine! Drinking 8 cups of water a day is only the MINIMAL we should all get. I know for a fact that drinking up to 12 cups a day is just fine and your body will thank you for it. However, if you find out that you are retaining the water, then you should tone it down a notch. I LOVE water, I feel dehydrated if I am not drinking it every hour or so. Good luck, and happy drinking!

In the past, I read that 8 glasses a day is the required amount for healthy adults. More recently, I read an article that said 8 isn't necessarily right for everyone. Drink what makes you feel good. I try to drink as much as possible. Water...that is. ;)

Convert ? to ounces.

You should drink this much water per day and if you drink anything with caffiene in it, you should drink the equivilant of that in water in addition to your regular intake.

If you are thirsty all the time and do drink water, then you should seek a doctor and be checked for diabetis as this is a clinical sign that you may be a diabetic.

you actually can drink to much water, it will decrease the salinity of you fluids, and could really do some damage.... but that would be like drinking a couple of gallons a day.... 10 or 12 8oz glasses would not even come close to being to much.

It's neither good nor bad for you. Your body needs to maintain a certain osmotic balance. Whenever you drink enough water to disturb this balance, your kidneys will function to restore this balance. Drinking more just means you'll pee more, neither improving nor harming your health.

It is important to stay hydrated though, it is much easier for your body to get rid of excess water than magically restore osmotic balance when there is not enough water.
