Everyone has been so kind to answer my other questions about my brothers carotid blocking and possible heart blockage, but he had his last Dobutamine stress test yesterday and they say that his next appt is July 18th for follow-up. He has not heard any of the prior test results, only knows carotid is blocked, but not ultrasound results, or the echocardiogram. They say his legs are in really bad shape, which is why he went in in the first place and of course they found the carotid problem, so that and the heart testing took priority. I realize yesterdays tests wont be ready for a few days, but long before July 18th, so why wont they do anything before then, He is in so much pain, I just dont understand. Thank you again for all you patience and help. Marti

Jenny b brought up a good point, but dont know how to email her, so will answer this way....My brother hurt both of his knees. he went to his Dr soon as he realized he had a problem, Dr sent him to emergency, he was finally sent to rehab, put on neurontin, all kinds of meds, they didnt help, he had test after test, all they could say is they felt he had peripheral neuropathy, but didnt know why, not diabetic or anything, not once did they test his legs with ultrasound to see if he had any blockages, and he did not see a vascular Dr, only neurologists., cause no one even suggested it. This was in Sept 2002, up until recently when my Dr saw a picture of his legs and said it was Vascular did he even realize there was a chance it could be fixed. He was told to go see a vascular Dr, which he did, at the Nuttall Group in Apache Junction Az. Sorry I didnt give this info earlier.

ok not to be rude or anything but why did your brother wait so long to go get checked out?? This is the problem with a lot of people. I work with a cardiovascular surgeon and we get people here all the time who by the time they reach us there is little we can do. their primary physicians should be taking care of them from the getgo. They are then referred to a cardiologist for testing such as the stress tests, echo, and catheterizations, angiograms, carotid ultrasounds, arterial dopplers and so forth. all of this should be done before going to a surgeon that way when u go for your appt all u do at the surgeons office is schedule your surgery. Now they may be taking long because of course the results of the testing take a while. the results may be ready but they need to be dictated and transcribed before getting them to the doctor. Your brother is not the only patient that this doctor has and i know it sounds mean but he will just have to wait. Now if he is in extreme pain and i mean extreme pain he can go back to his primary dr. or the emergency room. He should have been given something for the pain such as darvocet or neurontin and some meds for the circulation in his legs. I hope this is of some help. if u have any more questions don't hesistate to email me.

What PitBoss said. Also tell him to demand the results of those tests! It's his legs and his health, after all.
