I didn't even have to read the responses- I just read yours. I'm amused by people today (them, not you- though the question is great too.) I'll make you an idol if you like - but I think watching American Idol should fill all your idol worshipping needs. We all know how evil and blasphemous that show is. Just go get an US magazine, cut out pictures of the Hollywood stars and paste them to the wall.

I suppose so. I don't have anything else going on tonight.

But (as usual), I'd like to point out something.

The moderate Christians, who make excuses for evolution, and dinosaur bones, and say that the Old Testament is meant to be parables, or that Jesus did away with it, etc.

All of this is backpedaling. When a passage from the bible is proven to be ludicrous, moderate Christians tend to make excuses, and change their perception and/or definition of that passage.

This, to me, is the SAME as the early stories of people creating a statue of a golden calf, and worshipping it. If your religion is proven false, and you change it, just so you can keep believing it... you are forging your own golden calf. You are creating a new belief, loosely based on the old one, checking it for errors, and then believing it.

I hope some of you can see the irony... :)

Why should I worship this idol? Aren't there golden elephants, or dogs, or octopi equally worthy of worship? What makes this calf so special?

Careful Jim, You almost didn't sound like a pretentious, agenda wielding dick this time. You might want to see to that before you start asking thoughtful questions to which you might actually get a variety of answers.

Hey, does this mean I can get the believers in evo-creation-ulism to join my church? I used to have 12 members.

Oh Jimmy boy, How I love your intriguing yet poorly articulated theological propositions. (not so much this posting but most of your others)

Hey- That'd make a cool hood ornament.

I wonder how many people would "get it.?"

I think it'd be hilarious.
