(Athiests, don't answer this Q)How should we Christians act towards athiests? Evangelize? Nothing?

I want to Evangelize, but I am not sure what the other persons reaction would be! I want to reach out and help all those in need of Christ and the Bible. But I am not really sure how to do that! HELP!!

Just act as yourself. No need to preach to them unless they ask. Live by the word of God, and by the example of Jesus and they might ask why you live the way you do.

first pray. ask if God wants this or you want this. Go to christian apologetics research minisrty website. realize that most atheists are INTELLIGENT HUMAN BEINGS . The best way I have found is by living my life in a way that invites respect. I also know my Bible. It is sad 2 say that many evangelical Christians are clueless abt the word of God. Take a class like evangelism explosion that will prepare you to always have an answer for the question of the hope you have - and be sure to be respectful. consider encounters to be "pulling weeds and planting seed" in the garden of faith.
If you do not already, purchase a 1 year Bible - read the wntire Bible in only 15 minutes each day! Praypray pray - and may god richly bless you as you work to serve and enrich His kingdom!!

If you want to know how an atheist would react to you evangelizing, ask one..
Personally, I don't believe that atheists are 'in need of Christ and the Bible' - that's you projecting your need on to atheists. The attitude that some Christians have that atheists are sinners/immoral/really lost/secretly believers shows a lack of understanding and open-mindedness. You should be asking questions about atheism so you can learn - it won't challenge your beliefs but it will teach you a little about respect.
If you do decide that evanglizing is the only route - you can expect to have the same dealt back at you.

As a Christian we are commanded by our Lord and savior to tell people the truth. Matthew 28:19-20 isn't a suggestion its an order from Jesus himself. Evangelize by living the Christian life. Sharing with people about what God has done for you. Calling a sin a sin. Get into your bible as well as getting the bible into you. So that you can be a walking talking living bible that people who have questions can ask, "what makes you different?"

I was driving one day and read a bumper sticker on a different car which read:

"God, save me..........from your people."

I was very offended but I decided to just pray for them. For me I have trouble Evangelizing to people because I want to respect who they are and what they believe, even if I think it is wrong, so I just pray. If you want to start out by helping people find Christ, I personally would not start with Athiests. If you know of a church that ministers to people on the street, I would start there. Some of the homeless are lonley and want someone to reach out to them. So start out with people that you know who wants to be evangelized too, and when you become stronger in your walk, work on the athiests.

I'd say start your evangelizations with those who aren't atheists, but those who don't know where to turn or people who are simply nondenominational. You can be uninvolved with the church WITHOUT being Atheist. Maybe be a missionary or something... Join the Peace Corps!!

The way I see it, Christians should act with kindness.. That's how God is instructing them to do... be kind to everyone, right?? He didn't say ..."Hey... be kind to everyone ... EXCEPT those atheists."

Christians need to be more openminded to other religion's ideas. I consider Atheism a religion because each Atheist has their own set of beliefs on the afterlife..

I'm not Atheist... I'm Catholic... and I still think that Christians should be more openminded to the different religions in Christianity.

Great question. The only way to evangelize is to get up the courage and start doing it. Begin slowly. Maybe order some tracts (I recommend www.chick.com -- some of their tracts are great, like "The Empty Tomb" and "It's Your Life") and give them out to people. Another great resource is www.livingwaters.com and its parent site, www.wayofthemaster.com These sites contain lots of information on how to learn to evangelize.

I praise God that you want to begin evangelizing. Hang in there and don't get discouraged.

I think you've asked a really good question. The answers lies within each individual you are trying to "help". There are many who may be confused about their religion or faith and might really enjoy learning from you. There are others who know what they believe and absolutely do not want you preaching to them. These people find it offensive.

So, if you can find a way to help those who are interested in listening - its a great idea. You will feel satisfied instead of defeated...

I think one of the best things you can do is set a good example. If you are living a good christian life and are with others who are not, that is evangelism in it's most simple form...

The thing is WE can't help them. Only GOD can. You have to pray and let God speak through you to them before they will find the truth. If us Christians just keep yelling things at them it will never make since or make them want to come to Jesus. But if we let God take over and use us, He will speak to the deep part of their hearts because He knows how to reach them. It's hard to answer questions that way, I know I don't always do it but we need to try our hardest.

Show them unconditional love. Care for them. Make them see that there is something different about you from all the atheists and agnostics out there. They will like the way you treat them and wonder why you do so. Then you have a great opportunity to share your faith and they will be much open to it than if you just shoved it into their face from the beginning.
