Most people are short sighted and only pray when they need something. In school, we called this 'levels of faith' and this was a low level.

Anyway, when you thank God for doing nice things outloud, people look at you funny. Also, when you accuse God of making jokes at your expense, people seem to think you're the unchristianly one!

I don't pray for God to help me eat health. I pray for God to make ice cream good for me :)

Actually it a matter of Preference and Faith. My Dad trusted God. I remember one day we were in the back yard and he said; "Heck, if I got to eat Rice Cakes and Salads I might as well be dead! I like Bacon and Real Food"!
He did not pray to eat healthy and he not pray when he had a Heart Attack. He just said; "I feel I am right with the Lord and Ready to go when the time come, no need trying to talk God into postponing the inevitable".

That's a good question, although I think it was a bit sarcastic. My husband experienced this recently. Although he wasn't really a Christian and didn't have a heart attack.

He had a dissecting aortic aneurysm that almost killed him. Afterwards, he began wondering "Why me?" Why was he spared. It made him question a lot of things spirtually and he has begun to pray. He is new at this, but feels that he owes it to God for saving him to try to figure out what he believes.

When someone is that close to death they start to wonder about all sorts of things and have a new appreciation for life.

You'd think there would be no such thing as a fat Christian, since all they have to do is pray to God for strength to not eat foods that are bad for them, or to not overindulge at the dinner table. Being overweight greatly increases one's chances of having heart problems.

ignorance - My people perish for a lack of knowledge. There are many good books available such as the Maker's diet, we don't die our foods are killing us, why Christians get sick.. You raise an excellent point. our bodies are temples of God's grace and we must treat them with reverence. I pray for my child to develpo a love for healthy foods and reject that which brings death, not lie. Thank you for bringing up the important topic!

My pastors' wife is currently dieting and exercising, and I am sure that she is praying for help. She has lost over 30 pounds and is still at it. God gives us the power and will power if we simply ask for it.
