John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

My last question lead me to this and now I am really lost. If Romans 1:18-20 explains that there is no excuse for someone not knowing God because it is all around them "his eternal power and divine nature"

This tells me that you cannot get into heaven without knowing Jesus because he is the only mediator as I took from Kitten's question ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqGphau4KB_RmHNM.3iaMQnsy6IX?qid=20060617160106AAO5tIH ) Now if you have to know Jesus Christ in order to know God what about the people who don't know Jesus? Is that an exception?

And don't jump me and try to pull this "you sound stupid" crap as some of you have... I am asking a real question.

Ok so if John 14:6 is right then that means that Romans is wrong?

So now who get a second chance at getting into heaven and where is that in the scripture? I have never heard that before!

There is no exception. The only ones who will make it to heaven without salvation are ones who are not able to understand or comprehend the things about God. Those who can understand are held accountable. We can know that a God exists without being told about Him because of nature, conscience, and history. If you want to learn more on this, read BIBLE DOCTRINES FOR TODAY from the A BEKA BOOK company. This particular subject can be found on pg.89 - 94. Rene Descartes, the Father of modern philosophy, stated a basic proposition: "I think, therefore I am". In the DISCOURSE ON METHOD he wrote and develops his proof for the existence of God. (You don't have to believe what he wrote.Every Christian needs to form their own interpretation of the Bible because no one will ever know if another person is right in their interpretation of the Bible.)

None of the Bible is wrong. Don't make it more complicated than it should be.

How does:
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Contradict with:
Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
It's impossible to know God and not Jesus, or the other way around, they are one.

I don't understand how they contracdict.

Explain it to me.

Is what an exception?

You know the only way to God is Jesus and he will not return untill everyone has heard about Jesus and decided in their hearts if they want him or not.

Look at your first question... therein you can find your answer. Jesus was God's chosen "theophany" of His Beauty, Love, Light, & Truth... that which was with God from the time of Creation (and before?). If you know the Light & Truth of God's word, you know of Jesus... perhaps not in the "scholarly way" but via a "teleological sensibility..." Jesus is more concerned with the heart than the mind. To love God, you must love His Word Incarnate from the old covenant put on the cross & sacrificed to be tested, win the battle against death, and then to rise again into a new covenant with humanity. Think hard on this... it will come to you. Jesus is a born "potential" in heart of every human... and can only be "cast out" by choice or active rejection... even then, "He stands at the dooor, knocking."

No one will go to hell because they haven’t heard of Jesus Christ. The heathen will go to hell for murder, rape, adultery, lust, theft, lying, etc. Sin is not failing to hear the gospel. Rather, "sin is the transgression of the Law" (1 John 3:4). If we really care about the lost, we will become missionaries and take the good news of God’s forgiveness in Christ to them.

Jesus is the One who said that He is the only way to the Father. For Christians to say that there are other ways to find peace with God is to bear false testimony. In one sweeping statement, Jesus discards all other religions as a means of finding forgiveness of sins. This agrees with other Scriptures: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12), and "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).

For the third time today, here goes.

It works like this:

Jesus is God. God is in eternity, therefore Jesus is in eternity. In eternity ALL is NOW; no past, no future, just NOW. Therefore, everything Jesus did is in eternity, including saving us.

When we leave time for eternity, ie. die, the first one we meet is Jesus, who asks whether or not we accept Him. Since He's standing there in Glory, it may be a bit hard to ignore Him and I'm sure that few try. Those who accept Him walk with Him Home to the Father and their own glory. Those who contumaciously still say, "Hell no. I won't go.", don't go. He will NOT abrogate your free will. You freely choose eternity without Him, that's what you get, eternity without God. And that is Hell.

He does not need to sit upon a great, big executive-style chair behind a high bench and bang a gavel, pointing to you and telling the bailiff to, "Take him away." YOU do that yourself. He merely ratifies your decision. And that, as they say, is that. Amen; so mote it be; so let it be written, so let it be done.

if you are asking a real question, I will answer the best that I can.
first of all there are not many people left in the world that have not had the opportunity to know Jesus, through missionaries, or media, or whatever. however if someone was not given the chance to know Jesus, I would think they would fall into the category as the mentally challenged and the babies are in, they are accepted into heaven. simply because they didn't have or couldn't understand the choice of rejecting or accepting Jesus.
hope this helps.

The answers given for those who could not have known Jesus or were alienated from the possibility is the Harrowing of Hell when Jesus went to hell after he died on the cross and preached to everyone and the Great White Throne Judgment when Jesus will preach again at the end of times given everyone a second chance after death. The assumption is that we approach God through the humanity of Jesus and this is best and necessary of everyone, but some people know something of God through the image of God within each of us and God's glory reflected through all of creation, but this is not sufficient for salvation, hence the harrowing of hell and Great White Throne Judgment.

Forget religion.

Christ is the path of salvation.
Christ is the truth of God's Word.
Christ is the life eternal.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ is the tree of life.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

2 Peter 3: 8-9 says: But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

God wants to make sure everyone has a chance to make a choice. You are only held accountable for what you know.

I pray that this helps you.

yes what you read from the Bible is true that the only way to God the father is thru His Son Jesus Christ nobody else, and about the people who does not know Jesus, they will be given the chance to know Him it and hear HIs message, these can either be from other people such as pastors, evangelists, missionaries and such. there would be no exception because God gave everyone the opportunity to accept Christ and it is our responsibility to respond from that message, if we would believe it or not
