As I understand it neither. Some (but only some) satanists consider satan an archtype, and not an actual being.

On the other hand, Christianity is not Manicheeism, and indeed, was the one religion that attacked the Manichean religion's premise, which was that the world was somehow divvied up between good and evil. Christianity's theology of evil is that evil is simply the absence of good.

Christianity does not in any way at all depend on the existence of satan, although most denominations do not reject that such a figure might exist. If satan even exists, he is a created being - a troublemaker, to be sure, but only a created one, and not an equal to God.

Christianity is dependent only on Christ, and his salvific covenant. Little else matters - and certainly satan does not matter one iota.

Believe it or not, Christianity. Most Satanists do not really even believe in Satan, they just want to stand out or defy the establishment. They just want to be different.

Christianity - Satanism relies only on the self while Christianity relies on many forms of subversive control, fear & love being two of the most powerful. And of course, the all mighty dollar. Pass the collection plate please.
