My dog is a golden retriever almost 9mths old male. I noticed my dog licking his private area and around his balls for really a long time today (he never does that usually), so I checked if anything was wrong....and I noticed that:-
It is really reddish pink around his balls and the thigh area (on the right area) and also he is having some kind of yellow thing coming out from his D***! I really am worried and would like to know if you had seen anything like that on your dog.
I am going to take him to the VET anyways, but I got an appointment only for tomorrow evening and I really can't wait without an answer till then. I really LOVE HIM so much, and I really need responsible answers.

Discharge is normal. Vet can tell you more. Try rinsing the irritated area with a solution of 1/4 C Cider (not cider flavored) vinegar and 1 Qt. warm water. It will balance the skin Ph and relieve itch. Could be your pup has fleas which is causing irritation. My golden is 2 and is my heart. Good luck!!1

I'm glad you're taking him to the vet. That's the most important thing. In the meantime, just play with your dog a lot to keep him busy and take his mind off of his private area.
Also, try checking your local humane society's website. They might have an 800 number that you can call to ask questions like this. They often have an animal behaviorist or vet tech who can help.

The reddish pink could just be a hot spot from licking that area or some other irritation. The yellow thing, I have no idea.

Ok, a couple things. The redness could be a rash or skin problem which is what started the licking. The licking could have intensified the rash. The yellowish substance could be a couple things. He could have a minor infection (nothing to worry about, meds clear it right up) OR he could just really enjoy what he's doing, if you understand what I mean.

Sounds like some kind of infection. Your vet will do an exam and mabye some tests and probably put him on antibiotics. I suggest have him neutered ASAP!! This will make him live a healthier happier life. If you are so concerned about him now, what will you think if he gets testicular tumors or cancer in a few years?? Have him fixed ASAP to prevent this...talk to your vet about it tomorrow!!

Most likley it is a skin irrataion. I 'am not an expert but I have 3 dogs and we have been through our share of problems and it doesn't sound real serious. Your doing the right thing , taking him to the vet!

hey how are you my name is bobby my dog bruiser is the same way he is almost a year old and he does the same thing the redness/pinkness is because of dry skin the yellow stuff on his D*** is dry pee or dry sperm for a dog so if you have any questions just e mail me. p.s. it could be somthing else but most of the time that is what it is.

Sounds like he may have an infection, but don't worry it's usually cleared up pretty quickly by antibotics...
He's still going to the bathroom okay - right?
Good luck sweetie, Marilyn

your dogs testicles are dropping and rubbing between his legs. I have an eight month old yellow lab who has the same thing. I think the l yellowish thing is a byproduct from hormones and licking

I don't know what to say. I never saw that on my male Golden retriever. Well, he just got fixed. Maybe you can just show somebody and ask them if they know what it is. Hope I helped! -Sprousetwinlove
