Hello I have a problem or rather a friends of mine do yahoo has deleted ther yahoo 360 and I would like to know why yahoo has infringed on ther freedom of speech? To me honest thay had adult subject mater on it but it was marked adult! What is the point of having a adult section if adult content is not allowed and who is to say what is acceptable and what is not?
This is becoming a standard practice of Yahoo and whether you agree with what thay do is not the point should yahoo who is a public forum have the right to tell you what you can and can not post and read? I say yahoo is infringing on many peoples rights to freedom of speech.

Your friend may not have been in violation of posting unmarked adult content, but rather other content like copyright infringment or something of the sort. If you email Yahoo! Customer Support and ask for a description along with your friend (or friends and accounts, your use of plurals was confusing) who's 360 page was deleted and why. They should send you back a report since they wouldn't want anything happening again because they probably don't like to close pages like that as much as your friend does getting it deleted.

It's not a violation. Yahoo is providing him the means of communicating. Anything that he says is property of Yahoo. Therefore, Yahoo can do whatever it feels necessary to make sure everything meets its standards.

Besides, I can just as easily argue than a telephone company has no right to cut off service just because bills aren't paid.

It is not a freedom of speech issue. When you sign up, for free I might remind you, you agree to the Yahoo terms, and since you are using the Yahoo site, they can limit it to whatever they want. That does not apply here, or in most other similar venues either.

What you say is wrong. Period.

Yahoo is a private company that allows you to post material on "their" site. If you want to post something that is against Yahoo policy then host your own site and put up whatever you want. I find yahoo policy is rather liberal so what ever your "friends" posted must of been pretty raunchy. This issue is not a "freedom of speach" issue

Yahoo provides the site and they can determine the rules.
It's just like your parents saying you have to live by their rules if you live in their house. Get your own site and you can make your own rules. As long as you are depending on yahoo, they have the legal power and control for example we dont' have "free speech" here at work. Our employer controls allowed speech in the workplace as a term of employment. Yahoo can make your behavior a term of their providing something to you. It's like if someone says something you don't like in your car you can kick them out. because you are in control of that car. they can't say whatever they want IN YOUR CAR.

Yahoo is a private entity. They do not have to post anything they do not want to or find inappropriate. They do not even have to let you have an account.

YAHOO IS NOT "PUBLIC". They can choose what news to post, what links to link, and who has access. If you don't like it, start your own search engine/multi-purpose site to compete.

If yahoo has rules upfront and if you don't abide by them they have the right to cut you off. There are mag. that'll print that kind of stuff in a hot minute, maybe she should give them a try.

LMAO oh please, if you want freedom of speech on the internet you have to pay for it period. Have you "friend" set up his own webpage and pay for the hosting and can say what he wants. Other wise Yahoo HAS the true rights to have or have not what's on their system.

It does seem contradictory to have the option of labeling the content according to age appropriate standards and then punish people if they aren't PG...but I suppose there are other places to go if you really want to pursue those kinds of discussions.
