I'm Christian myself. Something that has never been explained to me. People say Jesus is the Lord, but Jesus was the Son of the Lord. So was Jesus the Lord or is God the Lord? Or are they the same? If so, why is there a Son instead of just God? I know Jesus was sent to Earth to die for our sins, but is he a demi-God then? Thanks. Serious answers only please.

God the father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit make up three sides of the same God. They are different leaves of the same clover. The best way I've had it explained is as a play. Several play actors are sitting around disgussing a script written by someone named Christian. Many of them say the playwright doesn't exist, but then someone shows up named Christianson, claiming to be Christian writing himself into the play. Someone comes up with the idea that Christian is active in three levels of the play. He created it, he wrote himself in, and he is somehow within each of the actors. Confusing yes, but I believe it is true.

Go to newadvent.org and look up trinity there. I would talk with your preist and ask what the trinity means.

The trinity is 3 people or aspects of one God. God is infinite. We are finite. Do not presume to be able to understand God. Jesus was begotten, not made. That means he always has existed as a part of God. Jesus had a human conception with the Virgin Mary - but that is not when he was first created. The Holy Spirit and the Father have always existed.

Think of trinity as like a cube. Just as each cube has a length, width and height, so to is it with God and the trinity. The trinity are inseparable. You can't get one with out the other 2.

Orthrodox Christinity always belived in a Trinity, A "tri-unity" or co-existance of persons in heaven. Its 3 "persons" but one substance(God). You can spend weeks on the Trinity and still not comprehend but at least apprehend. Statements like from "NONE" above state it isn't found in the Bible but thats just a weak excuse. They will also have to explain why the word "Bible" isn't in there or many others for that case. This is an amazing subject to research and dont let ANYONE tell you its just "faith" & just belive. God isn't expecting you to take everything anyone tells you. Research it! But so many religions have distored what the Trinity is. For example, The Jehovahs Witnesses' are passionate in saying that it was from Paganism. The Mormon church(from which you have a comment from abouve) states they belive in it BUT separate from each other. They resent it being called Polytheism( belief in 3 Gods) saying that their "one in purpose" makes it one. If you belive in the Lord of the Bible and belive what it says then you must belive that the Bible will not contradict itself. If Isaiah says over and over "Hear O Isreal the LORD is one", then Christianity is Monotheistic( One God not 3). Finally, look up the word Modalism for help in refuting the idea of a demi-God.

May you filled with the knowlege of knowing God........

1: Jesus never claimed to be God and asked people to worship him. (There are few accounts in bible of people worshiping prophets of God but here it means "to adore or to love")

2: There are more than one sons of God in Bible.

3: The word "only begotten son" isn't anywhere in the oldest preserved Greek Bible.

4: Trinity (God in 3 shapes) is not possible because when we say Jesus is God, does that mean God died for 3 days also when Jesus was (supposed) dead?

5: The Father. The Son and The Holy Spirit can not be applied Jesus only as there were other prophets in Bible who were called Sons of God and they also carried "The Holy Spirit".

In the Hebrew Scriptures the word "LORD" is used in place of the name of God, which is sacred. The word "Lord" refering to Jesus is a title of respect and honor. When Christians say "Jesus is Lord!," they refer to making him the master and ruler of their lives. The traditional trinitarian understanding of God is One God manifested in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You should look up the definition of Trinity here.

Jesus is the Son of God because He was part of God's Spirit who went down to earth in a mission to save us from sin. Since He is part of God's Spirit, He is God Himself.

Three persons, one substance. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That's the whole trinity thing. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
think about it, Jesus died on the cross, you really think God Almighty died? the Bible says Jesus sits at the Father's hand and intercedes for us. how can He do that if He's the Father anyway?
Jesus is the offspring of the Father's character. He is great, virtuous, loving, and all powerful. all the things His father is.

I am a born again Christian, all I can say is that in order for you to understand the meaning of the trinity you have to have someone who has a close relationship with God, and also reads the bible that can explain it to you so you can understand. I myself had the same question in my mind at one time, but i now understand the meaning thanks to my Christian friends & family :o)

Christ is the God, or Lord, of this earth, we worship Him because he made the ultimate sacrifice for us. God, the Father, Christ's and our father, created all of us and let us come to earth to gain a body and have experiences that would prepare us to meet Him again. They are two different persons, one in purpose.
