He is 10 years old so he doesn't have a drivers licence, etc.

If your grandson is a minor, you will not need any identification for him. I would suggest that if you do have something such as a passport for him, you may want to carry it just in case. If you do take a passport, don't carry it around with you all the time in D.C. You wouldnt want it to get stolen or something.

AS the others have said, he will not require ID. However as a safety precaution you should have his birth certificate and a notorized letter from the parents stating you have permission from them to leave the state with him and make any decisions necessary reguarding his health and well being. While the airlines will not check this it is necessary should there be an emergency and you have to prove temporary guardianship. Only passengers 18 and over have to provide ID.

since you are not going out of country he wont need a passport or birth certifacte. he should be able to get on without no ID since he is with you.
though it has been 3 years since ive been on a plane with a minor...i dont see why it would have changed though.

you dont need one when you're that young. i think 16 is the youngest you need one. i have 2 brothers 13 and 15 who dont need id
