I'm also one of the best men, and since i never actually been in a wedding before, wanted to get some feedback.

Give what you can afford. Too many times people, both men and woman, feel they have to keep up with the "Jones's".

Give what you can afford and have a real good time!

The shower should be about a gift for the couple, not money (save that for the wedding) so there is no set amount considering you can find a great sale sometimes and pay 1/2 of what someone else did. $50.00 is average but it's about thought, cliche as that may be, a shower gift can be a keepsake journal that you have personalized for them, an engraved frame for a wedding picture of the couple (I would add some humour though and put a picture of you in it when you give it to them, have it engraved with 'Endless Love' or "forever" and it will get quite a laugh :) Heck you're the best man you are his grounding force, his best friend, show some humour, make him laugh.

A shower you give cash or a gift. I would find something on their registry to give for the shower but won't break the bank. For the wedding gift, cash. But you are giving your best friend the best present ever by standing as a best man in his wedding.

Hm. Usually for showers people give "things" rather than money - maybe buy some token thing for the shower (e.g. a toaster, their towel set they registered for), and then hold off and give money for the wedding (in a card, discreetly).

I'd say for a best friend I'd give $100 minimum.

Let your income be your guide. If this is a really good friend, maybe an amount equivelent to a half-day's to a day's pay, and about twice that amount for the wedding gift. Of course, if it's the kind of wedding with mountains of lobster and barrels of champagne ... and you bring a friend ... you might want to pony up more.

Minimum amout appropriately is between $50-100 dollars. These days cash gifts are now given in department store gift cards.

Give what you can afford. Don't give less simply because you don't want to spend money. Instead, give what you can afford since they are your friends and it won't matter how much it is because it means something that it came from you.

Only what you can logically afford, especially if you are forking out money for the bachelor party.
