It takes something pretty serious to keep you from passing the screening. I'm seriously anemic and they still approved me to come here. I think a lot of it has to do with where your going. Our hospital here in Naples doesn't even have a Intensive Care Unit, I think it's a forty something bed hospital, so anybody with anything that is too bad, they wouldn't send somewhere like this. My biggest problem for the overseas screening was the dental. I actually had to have a lot of work done on my mouth! But that kind worked out for the best for me....I got braces and the Military is paying for them one hundred percent because I live overseas! I'm seen on base here for both medical and dental. As a dependent ( My husband is the active duty member ) over the age of 19, our dental insurance through the military in the States wouldn't cover anything for braces. And remember that when you go in for your screening, you'll see a military dentist for your dental screening, but if you have anything they want fixed before you go ( Wisdom teeth pulled, cavities filled, etc... ) they'll make you go to a civilian dentist to have it done, so you'll hav to pay whatever the insurance doesn't.

Huh. I moved to Germany 3 years ago and they never screened me. I was even straining on paperwork requirements and they barely even looked at me. My cats flew with us and had to have health certificates saying they weren't diseased and were up to date on vaccinations (translated in German and available from post), but no one looked at those either.

Some doc's will recommend for you not to fly if you're pg, I'm not sure what airline policy is. I know people that had time frames where they had to either leave NOW or wait for the baby to be born. I guess the situation was that if they flew outside the accepted dates they would have to foot the bill for their ticket instead of being sponsored travel, but don't quote me on that.

***When you go in for your passports, keep in mind that EVERY family member needs one, even infants, and if you're applying for a passport for a minor under the age of 14, both parents' signatures are required.

are you talking about your overseas medical clearance or something else. I'm overseas right now and as a dependant really the only thing you need is passport, i.d. and medical clearance which isn't strenuous and I'm in a remote area so I'm sure if you go somewhere that's a big installation you shouldn't have problems.

If you have a medical condition, and there is no facilities where they can treat you. It will be most likely you are not going. Other than that you are ok. There are certain items you can't take with you, but you will be provided for storage in the US for those items. Other than that you are good to go.

Yeah there are prohibitive items that you can't take with you, but there are no screenings for you personally. You get an assignment and you go. I have never had a screening, wife hasn't either.
