Is there any non-surgical cat birth control?

I feed and have neutered feral cats, it is becoming expensive.

keep the male and female away from one another. that's the only thing i know of unless they have a kitty birth control pill

Check with your local shelters. Here in Arizona, there are organizations that offer FREE trap, neuter and return for feral cats. Then, your only cost will be the food for your ferals. Some organizations will even offer assistance with the feeding of the ferals. It never hurts to ask.

No. Surgical altering is the only way to stop them from reproducing. They have been working on the "VACCINE" that does the job, but it is not available as of yet.

I doubt putting "underwear" on FERAL cats is going to work.LOL!!!!!!!

You can try getting involved with a shelter that has a low cost spay/neuter program. They may even be able to work you a better deal!! We have a program like that at our shelter. There are a lot of trappers that use the clinic.

I think they have a shot or a pill for dogs, so it should be the same for cats. I would call the local vet and ask about it. They would know for sure. If there isn't a shot or a pill, I would say to separate males from females when the time is right because yes, surgery can get expensive when you have more than one.

I've never heard of anything other than surgery for feral cats (of course, a pet could be kept inside or contained). But only fixing the females would reduce the cost and would prevent more kittens.

i do the same thing. yay for you!!!!! i call around to all the local cat agencies, ask your local shelter for a list, and many of them offer vouchers for free or reduced spay and nueter. you might also check with your city hall just in case as mine sometimes gives out city vouchers too. i live in southern california and they have "actors and others for animals" and they will pay the full cost of spay and neuter for ferals if you go to certain vets. they give discount vouchers if you pick your own vet. what i used to do is call several agencies that give vouchers and tell them the vet i'm going to and the date of the surgery and they either mail to me or fax to the vet a voucher and by the end i have enough vouchers to cover the whole surgery, usually they are between $5 _$15 dollars. you can email me if you like, maybe we can

I currently have 16 roomies myself. And when I came home from work this morning, the dominate male of the area (& I believe the father of all the babies) was in the back bedroom! He'll be going to the vet to get his eye problems and himself fixed.

And as far as food goes, I recomend Diamond cat food. As it's not corn filled, it goes further than most others. Past that and their shots, I find them easily affordable.

what you are doing or have done is great Unfortunatly for pet owners there are no pills or shots for pets to keep them from getting pregnant or getting another pregnant. IT is always best just to have them spayed or neutered. ask your local shelter for help in that sometimes they may have low cost or no cost spaying especially for feral animals they arent your responsibility but you deserve a round of applause for your efforts.

I also help her mom, and need she will be able to go back to a decision on adoption to spare herself the misery of taking her baby's existence, which typically is presented in later years.
