How come places that serve draft beer don't serve it in pithcers?
This happens a lot where I live but was a non issue in my hometown

Several reasons.
It takes ALOT of time to fill a pitcher ... so if you have a crowded bar, and two bartenders are busy filling some pitchers, the rest of the crowd gets p*ssed.
Second, charging by the glass makes more money. And that's what running a bar is really all about (and meeting girls ... hahaha)
Third, underage drinking can get out of hand if you have serve pitchers. It's easy for one person to buy the pitcher, and pour it out to all their younger friends.

It's all about the dollars, lady.
Selling drinks by the pitcher forces you to give a discount, but by the glass you are making better money..... College towns are forced to serve pitchers by their patrons....just live near a university, and you won't have a problem, you Lush....lol

It depends on the kind of bar/place. Sports bars usually diespense pitchers but the classier jonts don't....
I remember the days getting a few pitchers and sharing nachos with friends and shooting pool/darts. But now the kids keep me home... BORING!!

Maybe there's a local law against it. Where I live you can get served pitchers even in bowling alleys.

It's probably an atmosphere. Pitchers are fun and kinda barsy and if a place is more of a restaurant they might not want to project that image.

Everywhere I have ever been it is common to serve it in pitchers. Wonder where the hell you are?

its economics. they make more money by the glass. also in some states its illeagal to sell a pitcher of beer to one person alone.

You make more money selling beer by the pint and it is easier to control underage drinking that way

well where ever i went i saw both of in pithcers and cups.
