Let me help out a little.

Chardonnays can be crisp, oaky, dry, buttery, toasty, citrus-y, or creamy. Those are some main characteristics of the grape.

Some sweet wines would be a riesling or gewurtztraminer. Ca rieslings will be much sweeter than European ones- European rieslings tend to be more acidic...wine-os like this, because it makes them pair better with food, but those without the "refined" palates of people in the wine world may find the Ca wines a little easier to swallow.

Gewurtztraminer is a sweet wine, but it has a little spice to it. (The grape originated in Germany, and "gewurtz" means "spiced" in German...an easy way to remember it) So the question is, do you want sweet with a little acid, or sweet with a little spice? It all depends on the foods you're drinking it with.

Of course, there always IS white zinfandel, who others have mentioned. The only thing is, zinfandel is a red wine grape, and then they distill it, and add sugars/flavors to it. It does taste good, but it's not techinically a "wine". Still, drink whatever you think tastes best- that's what it's all about, right?

I say, try them all!!

Chardonnay should not be sweet. You're better off with a white Zinfandel. You shouldn't have any trouble finding one for under $15.00 a bottle. Try Beringer's White Zinfandel-Chardonnay blend.

Definitely Rieslings. Anything German is usually sweet as far as wine goes. Sauvignon Blanc is a nice middle ground between Chardonnay and Riesling

Plenty of Eastern European (Moldovan, Ukrainian, Bulgarian) wineries make sweet Chardonnay wines; look at a Russian import store or liquor store in a Russian neighborhood.

Riesling is a little sweeter. I love it with Thanksgiving dinner. Goes great with turkey and the trimmings. Chardonnay is OK too especially with grilled salmon. I hope I don't sound like a wine snob... LOL :)
