Whenever you think about your cat, think about the good things you liked about him/her. Focus on it enough and eventually you will smile rather than be sad about it. Once you're feeling better, if you still feel like something is missing I say get a new cat, though try to get one that looks different from the other one so you're not just replacing it.

I think it might be a good idea. There are PLENTY of sweet, loving cats out there looking for good homes, and it sounds like you have a lot of love to share with one. Nothing will replace your Tigrou, but that doesn't mean that you can't make new friends. Also while kittens are cute, think about getting an adult cat. Many are VERY sweet and just looking for a good home! They are less work than kittens and remember, kittens are all cute and such but only for a short time. Then they are adults too. Anyway, while you are deciding look up "The Rainbow Bridge" Its a nice story that you may enjoy reading.

Ur cat will always be in ur heart. Give it time, dont stop urself from remembering him. I know it hurts now and it will hurt for quite a while but it will get better. Let urself heal first before u get another cat or u might start feeling guilty about getting another cat so soon after this one died.

I am so sorry to hear of your cat. How old are you now? Please don't be angry with your father, it is not his fault. I know the pain, my mom accidentally let my dog eat my albino ring neck dove. And just recently, my Gizmo-ses Carver III died in my arms. My daughter was gone 4 days and when we got home, she started screaming, "Gizmo is not right mommy!" She (a 7 yr old) brought Gizmo to me, his legs limp and mouth gasping for air, his gums white. I yelled for my bf, my daughters father to get our kid outta the room. He started coughing, like a fur-ball cough, that's when blood was coming out his mouth like running water. Then he took one last breath, that was it. The whole time, I was crying terribly and praying to God to let him live. He has such a hard life for being only 8mos old(broken leg and teeth from jumping off the balcony). We don't know what killed him, checked all the "poisons" in the house, nothing. I believe he held on as long as possible until we got home to say good bye. I am tearing up thinking about it. This was 5 weeks ago. To make things better, my bf went out and picked up a cute little baby kitten. We named him Homer cuz he growls when he eats. He helped heal our hearts but the pain will always be there. We love you Gizmo!! RIP I do recommend getting another cat... it is someone to love that will love you back, always. good luck and god bless the little ones!

Getting another cat will never replace Tigrou- but if you love cats I would get another one. I had two sisters from the same litter and one just died out of nowhere. I didn't want another cat but the surviving sister was so lonely. It just happened to be that I found my friends cat who was really mean to it so I took her in and now they are the best of friends!!

I'm so sorry about your cat. As you get older you will find that cats and dogs don't live as long as we do, so you just have to love them for the time you have them. You remember all the good times. I think cats and dogs know they will not be with us all our lives and that's why they give all their unconditional love to us while they are with us.
Yes I think you should get another cat. The hurt you feel from Tigrou's death is small compared to the joy he borough you with his life.

That happened to my last dog and I got another dog to help!!!!
Try and get a cat that looks or acts like your last cat!!! You don't want to name the cat the same name cause that might make it worse!!!! Its ok to miss your cat alot, just think that he is in a way better place than this one!!!! You will be fine!!!

Hope you can make it through these rought times!!!

So sorry to hear about your little friend. It is absolutely the worst when we lose one of our pets. Get another one that you can love. No one can replace your loss but loving another really does help. There are so many loving cats out there that need lots of love and a good home. Good luck with your future pet!

Last September my cat died of old age. I had him for about 14 years - he was older than two of my kids. I still think about him and miss him. We had him cremated and keep his ashes along with his collar in our living room.

Don't try to get over it or forget about him. You need to grieve in order to heal. You should get another cat, but when you have finished grieving for the one you lost. You will know when that is. But don't spend all of your time thinking about him either. Do what you normally do, but if you have a really sad moment and need to go cry, do it.

Try not to blame your dad for what happened, he probably feels worse about it than you. Don't blame yourself either.

Yes, get another cat, but also make yourself a little picture of Tigrou and hang it somewhere special so that you can share your special memories with your new cat.
