Neither. Traveling to Israel isn't risking your life. You are more likely to die violently in the US than in Israel. If you have the opportunity to visit Israel, you would be smart to take it.
However, if you want to include Bethlehem or other places in the PA, you will be more at risk. In fact, the PA is actively trying to eliminate all signs of Christianity from Bethlehem, so could be in real danger (although most tourists do still return safely).

I did go to Jersalem (in Israel) and Bethlehem (in Palestine) back in 2000 while deployed overseas. Pretty awesome even though I'm not religious. Of course that was before all the violence started between the two nations. So from what I've read, I wouldn't go, but I would get the advise of a travel agent first. They usually get the "government warnings" about places around the world unsafe to Americans before the average person does.

I absolutely would visit it there. I have been there several times ( I have family there). My grandpa lives in jerusalem and so does my neice. its a beautiful country. If you do have to take a bus, take the express bus (less stops=less people coming in and off the bus). Or just take a taxi everywhere you go. If you go to Haifa or Tel Aviv its not as bad. The Gaza area is where most of things happen. My aunt lives about 25min from Gaza, and she can hear the bombs going off sometimes.
Other family members dont have a problem where they live. My bro and his family go on with their life, and my bro is in the military over there along with many of my cousins (manadatory for both males and females). Its really a truely breath taking country.
Overall, I think if you dont go to the hotspots in Israel, then you shouldnt have a problem. Visit the dead sea and climb the mountain there, your reward is a beautiful waterfall!
Shalom!

Without a shadow of a doubt; GO. Get your feet on the soil. Get a feel for the land; the people; the culture. Violence is only going to increase, & it will do so all over the world; not just in Israel. So, now is as good as it's gonna' get!
Visited once.
Lived there for a year.
Am going back...if those ******* don't give it all away.

Mark - you and that i don't generally see eye to eye, yet in this i will consider you one hundred%. sure I dream of an afternoon while this land could be rightfully enjoyed by ability of all people who've non secular and cultural ties to this holy land, which consists of Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Israelis and Palestinians no count what faith they might training, if any. We might argue over how superb to deliver on enduring peace in this land, yet we are able to truly agree in this being our straight forward purpose, and attempt to artwork constructively in the direction of accomplishing it for the earnings of genuinely everyone. Well I would go to Israel and see things close up. Hey man, anything can happen to you, no matter where you are. I'm reminded of the stories of the solders who have survived the attackers of the war in Iraq; only to be shot down in their hometown in America. Go and have a wonderful time.

I have never been there, but my pastor just got back. He told us all about it last week in church, and he said that the places his tour took him, he felt safer there than he does here in America! Israel takes pride in its history and makes sure that the places that tourists visit are in tip-top shape and very secure. They know that tourists cringe at the thought of violence on their vacation, and take this very seriously. They also know that if you see something terrible take place you'll come back and tell your friends, so common sites are kept extremely safe to ensure that people like you come to visit them and return to America to tell your friends how impressed you were!

That reminds me...do you know where that symbol originated, and where it applies to...the one with a condom that says on the wrapper: "Israel, it's still safe to go." I am the reckless adventurer type, who would recommend you actually visit the place, including places that no one tends to visit.See both Israel, and what is left of Palestine. You will find beauty and ugliness, good luck.
