A large bird - like the size of a goose. Black with white stripes on his wings and a red mask across his face. Does anyone know what type of bird this might be? Saw him on the side of a lake in Arkansas.

I am NOT an ornithologist... but the 'red mask'; leads me to believe... it could be a 'Moorhen'?

My Answerr is boring: The sparrows. each and every of the sparrows. i love them b/c they are the in person-friendly words poultry--except the floor-feeding junco--which will come to the feeder when I positioned it on the brink of the homestead window. they are not as afraid as the different, extra clourful birds. I feed the wild birds in person-friendly words contained in the wintertime. I stay in a rural section & have got here across out that finding out to purchase feed in the different seasons is only a waste of $$ because the birds have a lot nutrients elsewhere that they received't eat from the feeder, & the nutrients is going undesirable & I finally end up having to feed the poultry seed to the chickens--layer mash is plenty a lot less extreme priced than the poultry seed.
