Humans and other apes are descended from a common ancestor whose population split to become two (and more) lineages. The question is rather like asking, "If many Americans and Australians are descended from Europeans, why are there still Europeans around?" Creationists themselves recognize the invalidity of this claim.
This is the most annoying of all the creationist misconceptions about evolution.

Unfortunately, not for a while. A lot of religious people are afraid to venture out into science, so they rely on outdated and incorrect data from other people.

no, probably not. One of the ***holes reported me for expressing my opinion. I did not use any profanity or rude language, just answered their non-question ramblings by saying that their rambling non-question was proof that their beliefs were symptomatic of mental deficientcy.
