For those who aren't familiar with stem cells, put simply they can form into nearly any type of cell or organ. So, a damaged spinal cord or failing liver could be repaired with stem cells (at least, we hope).
The main source of stem cells is developing fetus'. I can understand being anti abortion, but I don't understand why people wouldn't want to get something good out of it.
To me, being against stem cell research because of abortions is like being against organ donors because you don't like car accidents.
So honestly, (without judgements)...why would you be against it?

Nobody gets an abortion to supply stem cells...like I said that's like saying organ donors promote car accidents. You're simply taking a tragedy and getting something good from it.

The Christian community does not worry about stem cell research, we worry about babies being murdered to save adults. Since it is hard to control what goes on in private labs once this activity is started, it is best to stay clear of launching into this practice.

Ok first I think that people are misunderstanding the thought process behind the question. I think it was intended as more of a if someone is already going to have an abortion why not use the fetus then not that we should have abortions just for that. Personally I am against abortions in all but two cases and those are rape or death to both the mother and the baby if the pregnancy continues. And so I personally as southern baptist think that if we have already taken one life we should use the stem cells to see if we can save someone else. God would not have given us the knowledge to do stuff like this if he didnt want us to try and save people with it.

I don't understand why they are against it either. I guess because it's possible to make clones with stem cells. I saved my daughters stem cells. They are kept frozen in a lab, and part of them are being used for research. People say it's too expensive, but I say what about the life of your child. My daughter had heart defects, and had to have surgery 5 days after she was born. She will need more done later in life. And she is more susceptible to heart problems. So if she has a heart attack, or surgery the stem cells can be used to help rebuild and repair the hearts muscle tissues. The stem cells can also cure over 75 different types of leukemia. And anyone in the family with the same blood such as a sibling or a parent can use the stem cells as well. Why some people claim to be pro life, and against stem cell usage beats me. I say it's ignorance and stupidity. Stem cells save lives, and I thank God for making it possible!

I wish you would have made sense in ur question and don't generalize. Some Christians are for stem cell research and there are 2 types of stem cell researches: Embryonic and Placenta. Some Christians are against it because the fetus cannot defend for its self and will die. These are scientific facts. The placenta can be used for stem cell research and has proven results for Parkinson and Ms.

because it will lead to women being pressured to have abortions just to feed the need for more stem cells. They can get stem cells from other places as well, but they chose to only go with the easiest to obtain, the aborted fetus.Besides, if they learn to pick which type of cells are reproduced, they will be able to turn a whole baby into that kind of cell, and soon there will be pregmnancies of just lung tissue, or kidney tissue. not a good thing

I believe that the "Pro-Life" swing of the church doubles up against Stem Cell research because it adds profit to a concept that is found already to be appaling.
So although there are non-abortion ways to get stem-cells, the profiteering aspect makes it come under suspicison immediately.

It is not the stemcell research it is the killing of a human life that is the issue. If an unborn life is lost from defect or accedent or illness, then, as with any other tissue research could be conducted. Just like any other organ donation.
Human life, compleat with eternal soul, begins at conception. This is scientific fact. artificial fertilization for the only purpose of killing the developing Life is murder. It is a violation of God's intent.
This is an absolute for those of the Christian Faith. It is not a "choise".

There is no objection to adult stem cell research that has cured many diseases. Embryonic stem cells have cured nothing and require the destruction of embryos that Christian regards as human life. Jesus incarnated himself at the point of conception, making sacred human life from the point of conception on. See Ann Coulter chapter on Stem call research in Godless.

There are much more proven efficient ways to ge the sem cells than through a fetus.
I believe that you are destroying one human's life to save anothers. I don't think God would force us to make a choice like that. He has provided better ways.
Check into the success rates of other ways first (and don't check into the Michael J. Fox stats, do some real research).
God is good, loving, and just.

I'm a Christian and I fully support stem cell research as do the majority of the people I attend church with and know . Try not to be as narrow minded as those far right conservatives who are against it. We are not all of the same vein.
