Why would a mother tell her daughter that a man doesn't need to marry her if she puts out? She is intelligent and nice, and she proved her mother wrong by marrying a great guy, even though she engaged in premarital sex.

So, are mothers intentionally being cruel to their daughters by implying that they are only good for sex, or do people just not think about what this comment really says?
