A drunk driver hit my parked car on St. Patricks day (night rather) back in March 06. I didn't have insurance on my car, only liability at the time. I got insurance the very next day.

The guy also hit 4 other cars before fleeing on foot. He went to the hospital and that's how the police picked him up, as well as leaving his shattered car at the scene.

I was just able to get the poilce report yesterday. Everyone else had their insurance pay for their vehicles. When the police talked to the driver he gave him false info. such as insurance (he doesnt have any).

Can I still get money for damage for my car? Luckily I didn't have serious damage as others did (2 cars were actually totaled). The driver side is scrapped (like a can opener) and the back drivers door is hard to open. He also shattered my drivers mirror, and busted my drivers back tire and my axle under my car keeps making a grinding noise.

The accident report is going to have a date prior to the date your insurance became effective, so you would be committing fraud if you tried to get your insurance company to pay. You can sue the individual in small claims court and get a judgment against him which can then be used to collect from his future earnings or property.

"I didn't have insurance on my car, only liability at the time"
I'm assuming you meant no full coverage and you only had liability then it only covers for the person or property YOU hit. It will not cover your damages/losses. If are now trying to use your current insurance to pay IT IS FRAUD. You will now need to take this guy to civil court and try to get some money for your damages.

If the other driver didn't have any insurance, then your only other recourse is to take him to civil court. Even then, he may still stiff you for the payment, but you'll be able to put a lien on his property.
